Sorry hear this all I can suggest is to wait till next month and see what they say then if they not willing do then you may have to look into having it done unofficially.

Honestly I not sure why they do have the rule either It doesn't make a lot of sense as you are already on a contract anyway.

Last time I looked unlocking can be done for £20-30 usually.

Why not get whoevers contract it is to phone them up again and get them to stay on the line until it's sorted out?

iPhones can ONLY be unlocked officially through the network. You can get them unlocked elsewhere but it costs an arm and a leg because apple are.... well apple. iPhones have way too many drawbacks compared to EVERY other brand. (even Symbian )

The only thing i can suggest is unlocking your phone via a jailbreak. However you'll lose the unlock every time you update the software.

Some other networks do not even allow you to unlock the phone until the contract has finished ie 18-24 months. This is to protect the amount of money they have subsidised the Phone for.

Bare in mind an iPhone costs on average around £500. You didn't pay that at the start of your contact.

What are your reasons for wanting to unlock?

I brought an iPhone 4S through a 3rd party on an Orange contract and Orange refused to unlock as it was not brought through their website/store it so I had to look elsewhere.

Found fonefunshop who sent me an email when it was unlocked and to connect to itunes and it worked flawlessly and the turnaround was within 1 to 2 days as well.

Cost me about £40 if I remember correctly.

Seems more like you thought you could get an IPhone on the cheap, Orange are within their right, not to unlock the phone as its under contract, Vodafone do it after 12 months I think.

Why not join Orange yourself rathe than 3 then you could use it.

or sell it on eBay and buy an unlocked one.

because I am on a 3 contract and do not wish to move. why should i move when orange customer service is this bad to its loyal customers.

and why should i sell the phone less then its worth and pay a bit more to get a unlocked one when my parents are paying £80 a month

They submit so many requests to Apple there is a limit per day.. it takes awhile. However That is far to long i would contact them and find out. Have you tried plugging it into iTunes recently? Once the unlock request is done it will not be unlocked until you do that.

You should get this screen.

iv tried it to itunes today,

i phoned them up after 21 days only for the geezer to lie to me and say

"we only unlocked it so you can use it for orange wth it was already unlocked to EE other networks orange and t-mobile."

so they said they will send another reuqest and it would be done in two days, this was on the 26th.

ee have caused me nothing but hassle

One reason why networks lock phones is to stop them being unlocked and sent abroad.

As for EE they stated to me in May that I could unlock my phone after 3 months when selling me the phone even after questioning which I'm a bit miffed about. It's a Nokia 920 and costs about £50 to unlock.

they havent done it in the required time, and have made me wait 6 months.

and there is nothing wrong with sending a phone abroad if you bought it on contract and are paying your bills thats beside the point, ee havent unlocked my phone and have been messing me around for 7 months now

Wish a law would be introduced that contract phones have to be sold unlocked. I can understand locking on payg, but on contact it's just ridiculous.

It's a combination of network policy and poor CS being experienced here.
If I can share recent experience of assisting 2 friends to unlock iPhones,
one on the 3 network used the unlock request web page they have and a text and email was received within 24hrs saying it was unlocked and to connect to iTunes using a different sim in the handset.
The other person had a one week old iphone 5 on O2, used the O2 unlock webpage and 20min later received the email. He was still at my house and we both looked at each other very surprised!
