Recommendations for new home cinema amp and speakers?
I want to get a new home cinema AV receiver because i'm currently running my setup via an optical pass-thru from the TV into an LG DVD/Amp combi and its getting a bit tired now.
Budget of up to £2000. I have been thinking of something like a Onkyo TXNR818 or Pioneer SCLX56 but i dont have any real brand preference. I have no idea on what speakers would work well with those amps but i know the 5.1 speakers that came with my LG DVD player probably wouldnt do a new amp any justice at all. I'd like to keep any new speakers quite small if possible - the wife will hate lots of big black boxes dotted around the room and i wont hear the end of it either. This will connect into a Virgin Media V+ box (possibly soon to become a Tivo unit or a Sky HD), a PS3, a VidOn.me unit and a PC with HDMI display card Thanks in advance for any comments. |

How about something like this?
http://www.creative-audio.co.uk/HD.p...UEID=435435345 I bought my system from these guys and have no trouble recommending them. Same speakers I've got. They are reasonably small, but surprisingly heavy. And they make a great noise. Plus if you like it loud they will certainly have the neighbours banging on the wall! ![]() Creative Audio also throw in a bunch of cables with the kit so you basically have everything you need to plug and play. |

Have a look at the Yamaha RX-A1020 with the Monitor Audio Mass 5.1 speaker package.
The Yamaha is a top notch piece of kit and the Mass speakers are small but sound fantastic. The sub blends really well with the small sats. Add in the superb Yamaha and you have a serious home cinema set up. |

If you want a discrete system then have a look at Anthony Gallos speakers, your budget will allow for the Micro ti's, but with the 3313 amp and the xxls400ff sub it will maxed out.
The Micro ti's are a 4" sphere and produce true quality. http://www.anthonygallo.co.uk/pages/...s-micro-ti.php These would be a perfect partner for the Denton avr3313. Sub courtesy of B&k. http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/XLS200.htm http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/XXLS400FF.htm |
