Last year was the first series (bar the 2004 series) I didn't watch because of how stale and boring the show got. Tulisa really became a boring judge, as did Gary, and I've never been a fan of Louis. He's neither hilarious or relevant. The only good thing about him staying is that Sharon is coming back. Again, I'm not sure Sharon will be any better a mentor than she was in 2007 (she's never won a series) but at least she'll bring a fun-but-outspoken dynamic to the panel. Tbh, with Sharon back, I don't see Gary's place on the panel. Anyway, the other main reason I turned off last year was because of the extremely boring contestants. No one was either interesting or original. From the looks of it, Nicole really did save that series. She also pleasantly surprised me from what I saw.
Anyway, I'm hoping the talent this year is on par with the 2008 or 2011 series. 2008 was a monster year because of all the different types of female acts (Rock chick, two big diva singers, indie girl, old-school jazz singer) and also because of JLS and Austin. But 2011 was incredible. That year's final had to be the best final in terms of all-round talent. Little Mix, Marcus, Amelia. You couldn't get three more diverse acts and they all deserved their place unlike in previous years (Christopher, Eoghan etc). If this year manages to capture my interest in the same way the 2008/2011 series did, I'll be watching again.
