Contrary to the received wisdom - and though I fully agree that Brian is to an autocue what I am to right-handed tin openers - I actually thought that some of the more contentious housemates were given a much better grilling by Brian than they ever were by Emma on BOTS.”

She's probably a low rent Davina for C5, I worry cause she has a lot of later BB Davina in her as you said. She is pretty to look at but what good is that at the end of the day. I never warmed to her, she's just too goody two shoes who won't tow the line from a company stand point.

I want a presenter who asks the right questions, say if you have another Conor type villian, you want a presenter who will grill him or her about their wrongs. Not smiling and letting them off the hook. I just don't see that in Emma.

For me it lost any charm mid way through BB7 and only had a little bit of shine during BB10 apart from that's its been bloody awful. It's just been overkill since BB8, it should have ended after BB11 and UBB. But they still drag on

The grubby fraud committed in BB7 destroyed the tacit trust that existed (in the most part) between the producers and audience up until that point and was a bewildering self-inflicted wound that started the relentless rot of the programme.

The presenter isn't even slightly important to me. I liked Davina the most out of all of them, but 95% of BB is watched without a presenter anyway. I don't think it makes much difference. Having said all that, I'll take Emma over anyone in that list above.

I think we are very lucky to have Emma as a presenter.

Her star is clearly on the rise and she is a woman in demand.

She fronts Loose Women on ITV and occasionally co presents This Morning and is a regular in The Hub.

Channel 5 have done well to keep her on board and she will bring a lot of credibility to the show.

Shes going to have a long career and rightly so. She has charisma and the public love her.

Actually ratings have risen not stabilised.

By the way can I just ask why people speak like they live in the 19th century on here?

Using sophisticated words does not make an unpopular opinion more credible.

Poor old Brian seemed to lose so much of the confidence and sharpness of wit he displayed as an HM, often being reduced to being just a sweaty bloke in a too tight suit in front of a crowd that palpably made him look like he was delivering a script that he'd only seen two minutes before.
I've sometimes seen Emma Willis flustered by I've never seen her anything less tha confident. She's also had a good run recently on daytime TV so I'm very hopeful that she'll be more than up to the job.

To be fair to both Emma and Davina, it doesn't matter who you have hosting the show they're still restricted on what they can ask by what the producers put into a script.

They could hire Paxman and the producers would insist he stick to their pre-written script rather than use his own interview skills.

Millions of people watch Dr Who for some bewildering reason too.”

Nothing wrong with Doctor Who only good programme the UK makes at the moment.

At best what I will do when Emma is on is Sky+ it and watch it later just fast forwarding any time she is on or talking

I'm certainly not convinced. On BOTS she couldn't deliver a line without squinting at the autocue, flirting her lines or laughing through each sentence.

as someone mentioned earlier 99% of BB is watched without a presenter so imo it isnt that important

The show evolved from even the days on Channel 4. The show from 2000 was not the same show during 2006 or 2007. The show evolves and moves on.

Ive been concerned too. I always loved Davina and didnt have much of a problem with Brian, he tried to be himself not Davina so people didnt like that. Emma looks like a Davina clone so of course the same ones will be clapping like seals at the news and suddenly shes proclaimed as the best presenter in the world.

Im more concerned with all the hate twowards anyone that prsents the show will mean this is a poison chalice for Emma. I am actually hoping she does a good job and proves my fears wrong. I hope the role will enable her to stand out as the face of BB because marketing her as the 'new Davina' may have pulled the wool over peoples eyes but it wont work for long.

She has the exact same problems later day Davina had (she loves the fake romances and she's very pro towards her favourites) plus I don't think she be able to control that rabid crowd. What I've seen of her on her own presenting I've not been impressed.

Am I the only one who's not all that convinced she be any better?”

No you aren't!

I don't like her, she's a Davina clone who will 'squeeeee' her way through the whole series with fauxmances all over the place. I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time before she starts gurning!

I think if Brian hadn't had to read from a script he would have been much better & much more natural. The same think may yet happen to Emma.
