Next 12th DR. I put on the poll Damian Molony which would link nicely if Toby Whithouse took over from Steven Moffat as he has worked with him before or another choice would be Jack Farthing he played Freddie in in Blandings

My first choice has always been Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead and I would also like to see Matthew Macfadyen (Ripper Street) take on the role.

I think that we now need an older Doctor - my vote goes to Robert Llewellyn.

I voted Ben Daniels as I love his work. But I wouldn't mind Idris Elba, Adrien Lester or Rory Kinnear, I'd like an older doctor. But if the casting would be young I'd go for Ben Barnes or Ben Whishaw. I'd like Rupert Grint, he'd be a different kind of doctor and I do find him funny

Some of the people mentioned have big projects ongoing at the moment. For instance Matthew McFadyen is committed to Ripper Street and Andrew Lincoln to The Walking Dead.

They are also very high profile TV actors. Someone relatively unknown like Damien Molony would be great. He is a fantastic actor and not so frantic as David Tennant or Matt Smith - although I am sure he could be if asked!

Ben Whishaw or Bryan Dick are my favourites.

But if Ben Daniels does get the role, I will be happy with that choice.

I didn't really know who he was and had only seen him in Merlin. So I looked at a few clips of his work online, and I think he could play the Doctor very well.

Ben Whishaw for me, I really like the look of him as a brainbox, Doctory type. He's about the only actor I can think of that would do justice to the role and the only one who's made me excited for the future rather than mourning Matt's loss.

Ben Whishaw would make an outstanding Doctor. Not going to happen though.

I'd be fine with Ben Daniels. He certainly seems to have a commanding presence, despite not appearing very Doctor-ish at first glance.

Richard Coyle.

But if it's Ben Daniels, as rumours suggest, I'm really okay with that.

I voted Ben Whishaw. Though I would also like somebody older this time. Idris Elba would be my second choice.

I've always liked Rafe spall he was excellent in the shadow line. Rather have an unknown rather show biz name.
Love the idea of Philip Glinester from life on mars, can just image if he played the doctor like that character. Top actor through and he has worked with the master!

I'm sure you are right but these are the actors I would like to see play The Doctor not necessarily names that could/would. Besides, Matthew McFadyen would have finished filming series 2 of Ripper Street by the time they start filming Dcotor Who series 8. So, he could be available if they decide not to do a series three of Ripper Street.

One can hope so, anyway.
