Trying to find someone to help with cat rescue - what a mare
1971
04-06-2013
4 days night an under weight cat has tried to make my home his home.

Taken him to vet:
No chip
Neutered
About 7/8 ( I though young as he's so small)

Fly posted all neighbours no joy

RSPCA don't bother calling me back
Cat protection say they are full and
All other charities say they are full
I think it's because he is old

My 4 year old tux is not happy hisses at window, won't go out, hides under bed - it's so distressing
My husband is not happy as we can't open the doors windows etc

Im in WD6 Herts

Any guidance would be appreciated

Don't know if any of these are of help?

www.felinecatrescue.org.uk
www.chesnutcatsanctaury.co.uk

They both cover Herts.

Edit - I think there's also a Blue Cross centre in Herts but my laptop is being soooooo slow, I couldn't click on the link, sorry.

We are also up to our ears with kittens

Our branch of Cats Protection is based in North London and like other centres the situation changes all the time.

It might to worth emailing them just to see how things stand we don't operate a waiting list but offer places as they come up

I will keep an eye on your posts -good luck

Perhaps you can ask around friends/neighbours if they can take the cat on. Its clearly been owned but may have wandered miles from its home and you may never track its owners down.

Get your cat chipped folks! Its only a few quid.

You're welcome, hope one of them can help.

I was trying to remember last night - my Aunt (who I haven't seen for 20 years) used to do cat rescue in Herts but I couldn't remember the name she used - feel a bit of an idiot now because I remembered this morning, it's her initials - SADCats. (duh!) I don't know if she's still doing it, she's in her seventies now, and I couldn't find anything by googling. But I'll ask my cousin via Facebook and find out for you.

Duh again! Just realised you have a Watford postcode - the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) is based in Watford and have a rescue centre there.

I found a stray a year ago who lives with my sister now (i started a thread about her today on this board) and at the time got no joy from any of the local shelters, they were all full. Phoned the RSPCA and must admit they were really nice but could not help with regard to a new home. It is really sad and distressing but luckily i found a good home for this poor bairn. Best of luck 1971 and good on you for trying.

Have you reported him found on any missing pet sites at all. Even though the owner didn't chip he might have wonder a lot further than you think. Do you have a picture of him at all. Which branch of RSPCA did you report him found too

What a strange journey it's becoming......

On another cat forum someone is looking to ad port a kitten in north london and has been told by cats protection ans RSPCA they don't have any kittens at moment!

And no it's not an old post

Done the whole poster and flyer.
It's really really busy at work but I am spending my lunch and free time posting flyers up the road and different roads, putting in shops, social media overload etc x

Yep I have done posters, spending lunch time and getting up early to post through letter boxes, talking to people on streets locally (it's strange how people react, some people are friendly and helpful others are ar&£holes)

Postered wooden lamp posts, posters in vets and shops, all websites, missingets forums, twitter, Facebook the lot.

RSPCA is south mimms who said to call the emergency line, which is a mare, they are patronising and robotic.

Waiting for cat protection to call via someone else although I've Already been told no space.

It's proper freezing out tux out he is still under the bed now even though ginger hasn't come in house.

So sad the ginger is gorgeous, he's lost or been kicked out defiantly homeless

Thing is I don't mind sponsoring his first year of care...£

RSPCA Middlesex North West covers Watford, St Albans, Harrow and north west London areas. They may be able to help. http://www.catchat.org/rspcamiddle/cgibin/prtoc.cgi
I'm sorry but I only seem to be able to paste the re-homing pages but contact numbers are available if you click on the other links.

Cats Protection Three Rivers covers Watford but they seem to have had the same 3 - 4 cats on their website for months now and I found that particular branch quite unhelpful when I was trying to re-home cats 2 years ago. I ended up using the Hillingdon branch which is out of my area.

Cat and Kitten Rescue takes on cats from west Herts and North London. I notice they take on a lot of abandoned cats from Ireland so they may have room for a Herts stray. They seem to be very successful with re-homing. http://www.catchat.org/catkit/cgibin/prtoc.cgi Again, sorry that this directs you to the re-homing page. If you follow the links at the bottom they will take you to to several other rescues in Herts.

Good luck with the mission. I don't understand about it being 'freezing' outside because I'm finding it very warm where I live and my 3 cats are outside playing at the moment.

OP has a cat called Tux who is very upset about ginger coming in the house - Tux is hiding (freezing) under the bed.

Not sure when this person applied we didn't recieve kittens until May 27th from a Welsh CP branch and all of them were too young to be considered for adoption.

All ours will have gone to foster care until they are ready fortunately they don't hang around for too long

Definitely try Cat and Kitten Rescue in Watford - it's where we got our rescue cat. I think someone posted the link earlier in the thread?
