Just that really. I want to do something different from the usual sandwiches, salad, pork pies etc. There's only two of us so nothing too grand like a stuffed loaf.

Man, I love picnics and picky food in general... If it's just the two of us, I like to do a selection from:

* Crab mayonnaise wrapped in round lettuce leaves (take the leaves and wrap as you eat!)

* Pasta salad - current favourite is pesto, rocket, parmesan slices and pan fried pancetta cubes

* Stuffed vine leaves and olives

* Home made lemonade / lime & gingerade

* Tortilla wedges

* Vietnamese rice paper rolls

* Cold chicken

I wanna go picnic now!

How about making a game pie or just an alternative to a pork pie. Posh it up a bit.

Thanks for the responses. I think making a game pie is a bit OTT for just two of us though degsy.

Boringly, I've settled for the tried and tested layered salad but still have to decide on prawns or mackerel. See how I feel in the morning.

I love doing lots of little things. Wraps, sliced into bite size pinwheels (ham & chutney, cream cheese & spinach, beef and mustard, peanut butter and jam... or whatever). Cherries. Strawberries. Sliced apple. Mini skewers of cold chicken. Cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls wrapped in basil leaves (a mini caprese salad in one bite)....

Dammit, now I want a picnic again.
