Not only does Alex look like Dracula, we now find out he makes tombstones!!
I bet Taffula's business doesn't have a sideline in fence posts or garlic, though

I think Alex would be a laugh to have a pint with, obviously his quite deliberate vampiric appearance is a little disconcerting, but he's obviously done quite a lot for one so young. And can talk himself up well too.

But he won't win.

This week he became my favourite.

He's entertaining to watch, highly competent and articulates himself well.
It's clear Lord Sugar likes him, during his final sum up before firing Kurt and Natalie he said Alex had done 'relatively well' so far in the process. Which is strong praise from Lord Sugar lol especially at that moment when it's usually all negative stuff he says. To force something positive in there is like 'wow'.

No doubt I've jinxed him though and he'll be gone soon.
Can't wait for next week though.

And he stood up to LAS when questioned about his experience in selling bespoke items.

I like Alex, he's not afraid to get stuck in, or have a laugh at himself. I would never have guessed he was only 22.

Hopefully he's a bright future, because he's looking better than most of the candidates that have "experience".

Not for me. Finding him quite repetitive and boring.

He makes bloody tombstones!

Why does this not surprise me anywhere near as much as it might?!

He's my favourite now, for the same reasons as meglosmurmurs. I doubt he'll win though.

OMG ! Also was it Francesca or Leah who tried to kiss a total stranger?
I got the impression from the clip that LS was so livid that he sacked someone before he even separated the teams out. Please god it wasn't Alex. The show won't be the same without Alex.
what happened in the clip, I must've missed it.

My answer was 'yes' to this before last night's episode.

After last night, I had to give this a little bump and say my yes is even more resounding now.

I need say no more than 'Herbert and the eye shadow'. Classic 'Apprentice Stuff of Legend' right there folks!!

Ha ha, I'm laughing at the thought of it still now.

The excessive eye shadow, the never stay still prancing eyebrows, the slimy/ sleazy slide on the bench over to the woman and finally the popping up as the couple walk away, grinning maniacally into the camera clutching what looked like dead weeds (aka flowers) were done to perfection.

Hilarious!

The Herbert dating video was funny albeit very very creepy/cringing and not particularly appropriate.

However, he's definitely got the most personality out of the rest of them. Would be a real shame if he didn't make the final 5.

I like the fact he's not afraid of looking like a fool in order to get the job done.
I mean he takes alot of stick. In the last episode he was mocked for never being PM and even had chicken impressions done at him *bwok bwok bwok*. Then later on he was referred to as ugly, basically the opposite to the 'James Bond' type of date. Yet he never lets it get to him.
Even having sour-faced Leah combatting him on every minor suggestion for the ad didn't make him lose his enthusiasm.

As LAS said last night "at least your not afraid to get stuck in and get your hands dirty" I do wonder why he's not been chosen as PM though. Is it because he gives it his all on task, which would be lost if PM or is he a total k*ob

I actually disagree- there are a number of tactics that ad agencies employ when working on a brief, and on occasion the more memorable/ tacky an ad or gimmick, the better the objective is met. Obviously it's horses for courses, and won't be appropriate for many brands so the final creative selected would be dependent on many factors.

The 'love it or hate it' gimmick type ad is one that does what it says on the tin. People will have a polarising opinion on them of course but ultimately it gets people talking or remembering the ad. If a company wants exposure and to be talked about, it's a classic tactic.

A recent example are the Go Compare 'Opera Singer' ads. The backlash for these and the character from the general public was pretty harsh, and many people said they absolutely hated the character and found the ads annoying.
Were the ads memorable though? Did people remember them? Did the profile of Go Compare increase?

The ad agency has been smart in realising that the criticism of the character can be used to their advantage, hence the newer campaign where they still feature the Opera Singer. The premise now however is one of killing him off as he's so annoying, showing that the company listen to what the public say whilst still keeping the character that people now recognise, in every ad.

Clever stuff.

Hmmm, dating website adverts work better when it's actually real, tangible people who have used the website and it's actually worked out for them. They're easier to relate to. Dating online can be a daunting experience for some (particularly women - safety issues meeting men they don't know etc) so you want something that's a bit more cosy.

Herbert came across as ever so slightly rapey. It was amusing but what message were they really trying to get across?! Join our website and you won't be raped/meet a sex offender.

It's obvious from the task that no one has ever met their respective partner on a dating website or even used an online dating website. If they had, the results would have been undeniably superior because you have a far greater idea as what works and what doesn't.

They should have twigged who they were presenting for. EHarmony are in particular, massively keen on personality profiles/psychometrics. You could have designed a website that incorporated personality questionnaires that match people on interests but made a few tweaks etc (they're all big on profile matching apart from Global Personals who predominantly run sex sites like Sex Me Up).

This task could have been easily one by a PM who had used dating websites before.

Yes but it had to be unique or else they could of just copied everyone else.

I thought of one while watching, why not match people by their pets?, so instead of an initial photo of the person it would be their pet. I originally thought about just using dogs but suppose any pet would do.

Alex has some great lines, hope someone's making a list. He came up with a little jingle last night, cracked me up - "CufflLinks...for lovers in suits!"

Agree he can have a bit of a nasty streak, but mostly I warm to him. Very straight with people, comes up with some original and sometimes brilliant ideas, isn't afraid to jump in, knows how to talk to people and just looks a lot of fun. He's very young, and while some of them hide behind that as an excuse, I think in Alex's case he WILL learn how not to rub people up the wrong way, because he's a fast learner.
