Pet Insurance for a doggy

Going to get our dalmador (lol) pet insurance. I was going to go with Tesco as I'd get staff discount but it hasn't got very good ratings.

I don't mind having to pay up front at the vets just want a good honest insurer (if there is such a thing).

Any experiences of companies you'd like to share would be most welcome.

Thank you.

I use johnlewis for yogi, they were the most competitive price, best reviews (for the price range) and I got cash back from quid co. never had to use them, fortunately but the reviews were good. For Archie they are a lot more expensive so am looking around, my vet recommend a specific one who pays direct to them, so maybe worth speaking to your vets see if they have a partner?

Years ago I used pet plan for my cat and she was run over, they paid out quickly and without any hassle, but from what I hear they have gone down hill a little in recent years.

Don't think that helps at all, sorry!!

Oh one thing worth checking is 'old age' premiums, some that I looked at had a higher customer contribution when the pet hit 9 and covered less.

We use John Lewis for both of ours. They paid direct (less excess) to our vet for the couple of things we claimed for. So far they have been good.

I use Petwise. They are good and they do send you the money relatively quickly when you make a claim. But their premiums rise every year (although i guess thats normal) and the excess is going up as my woffers get older. They are insured for life though, which was very important to me.

I use John Lloyd for the puppy, not had to use it yet. Got my other 2 insured with Tesco, having to claim for one of my dogs twice now up to the limit for 2 different illnesses, they paid out without any trouble every time.
