Really looking forward to an album to get me through the Summer! Anyone else excited? #Beautiful is a great track. I wonder if Triumphant will make an appearance..

Urgh, i just hope the album is nothing like the awfulness of Beautiful and Triumphant. They are the two worst recordings of her career, along with the Glitter soundtrack.

All a matter of opinion. I personally really like both Glitter and Beautiful. I do agree to an extent about Triumphant though.

OP: I'm really excited for this. I hope she can make a comeback. I don't think she'll ever reach the height of fame she was at in the 90s but she can definitely get back in the spotlight if the album is good and she plays her cards right.

As long as she keeps doing crap like her past couple of albums she'll flop, she needs something big and creative.

Ha. Just goes to show how diverse Mariah fans can be! Glitter is my 2nd fave album of hers after Butterfly with Music Box a close 3rd. Lead the Way is her best vocal performance to me. I wish she'd go back to stripping her music down a bit more, like Vanishing, Looking In and I Wish You Well.

Of course I'm excited, Mariah could release an album of silence and I'd still buy multiple copies. I hope the direction is more #Beautiful than Triumphant though and nothing like her last studio album "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" which I think is easily her worst recording ever. I actually really like Glitter

What's to be embarrassed about? It's a solid throwback 80's album - marred by the film, her breakdown, being dropped/paid off to leave Virgin.....September 11th!!
Never Too Far is one of my fave ballads by Mariah....also Reflections (Care Enough)

I'm not really embarrassed, I just put that face in because as you said it holds a lot of negative connotations with the public. It really is a strong and horribly overlooked album in her career. Her voice is amazing on it too, so much better than it was on Rainbow!

I really don't like Butterfly, I don't get why everyone does so much.

Its definitely an acquired taste that you really listen to intently to appreciate. I wasn't in to it on first listen but when I started to listen to the lyrics and melodies closely I really fell in love with it. I just go into such a relaxed mood whenever I listen to it. "Outside" is also probably my favourite song of all time.

If it's a good album I hope she includes Almost Home. If not... it makes no difference lmao

My own ranking woul have to be:

Butterfly (great to see so many people agree with this)
Glitter
Daydream
The Emancipation of Mimi
Rainbow
Music Box
E=MC2
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel
Emotions
Mariah Carey
Charmbracelet

All are great. I often notice others rank her first two albums very high but I've never quite loved them as much as the rest. Glitter and Daydream can change places depending on my mood.

I actually didn't like Mariah's music much upon first listen. It wasn't until I listened to 'Butterfly' (after buying it on a whim) that I started to love her. The fact it's her own favourite album as well just makes it even better.

Glitter is a fantastic album. I think it's often rated unfairly because the movie it accompanied has a bad reputation.

Glitter is great. It's got some great classic covers on it. And Loverboy is a guilty pleasure, the chorus is so catchy. And the remix is great.

I wonder what kind of sound she'll go for on the new album. Memoirs was very old school r'n'b in places. What happened with the remix album?

It got pulled. Some of the remixes leaked and were good.

Betcha gon know (feat R Kelly )
Candy Bling feat TPain
HATE U remix
Up out my face feat Onika

They all leaked.

Apparently there was a remix of its a wrap with Mary J Blige. I would have loved to hear that.

Last year around the time Triumphant came out Mariah said she was going to bring real RnB back on her next album, but who knows what direction she will go in.
