Having seen Richard Ayoade on a couple of panel shows this week I don't think his dry, laid back style would work on MtW.

Yes, he was on a League of Their Own and it did not work for this humble viewer. Too clever by half springs to mind.........

I agree. He kind of works on Was It Something I Said and was good on Quiz of the Year but I think he would stop Mock the Week in it's tracks. I don't think he was good on A League of their Own and was he on Buzzcocks? I seem to remember him hosting that and it wasn't great, but then again it's not very good these days whoever is hosting.
Chris Addison's back to night apparently so that's a few posters enjoyment ruined already! |

I like Chris Addison. I also don't see him being on the panel, and the more varied line-ups they have had this series as two mutually exclusive things.

Boo
IMO the last few episodes have been the best for ages by virtue of not having Addison on

Russian Roulette with Revels - did the people who make that advert a few years ago steal Milton's idea?
![]() I didnt know Milton had been going that long - he still looks the same now ![]() I watched a bit of his Universe tour last night and it was the same jokes as back then, and I found the delivery and stop-start nature annoying "Ladies and gentlemen its great to be here in... Ireland/China/Prison.." and then tell 2 jokes which got chuckles rather than belly laughs, wash, rinse, repeat. Some are OK but I prefer Stuart Francis, Gary Delaney for puns, they seem cleverer and a bit edgier.

I've said before that if you've seen Milton Jones' stand up from 15 or more years ago you'll find his jokes on MtW.
The same goes for Francis though. They are one liners and the standup bit they just cobble together all the jokes they have on that topic. |

Then again, I can only suffer small doses of punning or one liner acts. |

I'm not sure if this is the most recent thread. The most recent episode though - too much Dara showing off. Sara Pascoe claps far too much. Gary Delaney, no, just no!

I miss Frankie Boyle. Having said that i totally understand why he isnt there and why he was a destructive influence but i think the show needs "an edge". It all feels a bit too safe for me. I think even Micky Flanagan managed to push the boundaries a bit.
The current line up are all pretty good IMO but it needs someone to be a bit of a loose cannon to keep everyone else on their toes. Speaking of pushing the boundaries how come they can never make jokes about women. They spend all that time trying to be lads making sexual jokes penis jokes but never work up the courage to make jokes about women, they never work up the courage to make vagina jokes. Plenty of material there smells, tastes good or bad. |

MTW is still brilliant, now on Series 14 and 10 years old. Would like to see Jo Caulfield back, also Adam Hills, Micky Flanagan and Lucy Porter. Hugh Dennis' beard is scary though.

New guy's good. The "dwarves in a cupboard, pallbearers for a cock funeral" gag was quality.

I take it from the fact that it started and finished late that they were still hitting a little ball around a field at 8.05 and BBC2 was running 5 minutes late?

I did like some of his quips throughout the rest of the show though. He's very odd looking, with the neck of a 50 year old. Even Sara Pascoe grew on me a bit. |

I thought that was the worst bit of the whole show, his Doctor's surgery thing.
