Veep (which is basically our version of The Thick Of It, and Ianucci is still the director) is having Addison on for future episodes so he's not left, but that's why he's not on the rest of hte season.

So you'd rather have someone doing a bad impression of a comedian you don't like rather than the comedian you don't like?

Alistar Mcgowan?! In 2013!? - I thought this was a repeat when I out it on

Not a bad episode though. I really like Gary Delaney, I saw him at the fringe, he is a very clever comic.

And that Hal Crutterden is growing on me...

He did the same joke on a BBC3 program from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that was shown about 3 weeks ago. In fact I think all the jokes he did in his stand up challenge had been used on that show.

According to the Mock The Week Facebook page it was his debut appearance on Mock The Week.

All the one liners use their standup set on the show. I'm sure the other comedians use parts of their routines but it's stands out more if you've seen a one liner set and then they do the same jokes on the show.

In the case of Gary Delaney he did it on a BBC show within the past month so I'm surprised someone at the BBC allowed him to repeat his jokes so soon afterwards. If it was a show for another channel or a tour that'll probably be released on DVD a year before it's shown on TV then it would make a difference.

Yes, I don't think McGowan should come back on again as I didn't rate him too highly but he offered more than Flanagan, Millican who I mentioned.

I found comedians I think are funny funnier than those I don't.

Just post 10 copies of this each week and it will save time.

I don't like it when impressionists are on the show.
People like Alistair McGowan are SO desperate to do their impersonations, it's quite embarrassing !
It turns into an episode of "Who Do You Do" (if anyone remembers THAT show )

No more embarassing than comedians shoehorning gags and even whole sections from their stand-up act into the show with the lamest connection to the topic.

Gary Delaney - way to pleased with himself & desperate to shock. Otherwise not a bad show. Agreed McGowan should be put out to pasture.

Hardly his fault. He performed his show/set at a gig at the Fringe which happened to be recorded for the BBC.

I doubt BBC2 and BBC3 get together to see what jokes comedians might be telling on different shows.

No it was recorded as a special for BBC3. Being on the BBC tickets mailing list I received an email offering free audience tickets to that show but not being near Edinburgh and not going to the Fringe festival I didn't apply for tickets.

I have seen Gary Delaney a number of times over the last 5 or 6 years and could never understand why he hadn't 'made it' on tv especially seeing some of the box ticking drivel the BBC deemed suitable to broadcast. He's very clever and really, really funny. What we are seeing on MTW is just a flavour of how good he is.

I also agree this is not McGowan's territory. It wouldn't have been suitable for him even during that spell a few years ago when he was funny.

Depends on how political he can be. Remember they started off with Rory Bremner.
Jon Culshaw has also been on a couple of times.

Not to mention Dennis with his impressions.

I thought Gary Delaney was very funny, and Alistar Magowan made me laugh when he did an impression of Dara and Brian Cox
Good episode

Him saying Andy Parsons in Dara's drunken voice

Would like to see more of Miles Jupp and Milton Jones though - those two are also brilliant.

It is a very odd complaint to make but I've always said that the problem I have with impressionists is that they are always doing impressions.

Hasn't been the same since Frankie left IMO. Most of the comedians they have on there these days make it unbearable. The guests have always been mostly shite, don't get me wrong, but it was less embarrassing to watch when they had people who were actually funny like Frankie to kind of balance it out.

For me the problem is not the impressions, it's that they seem to think an impression is enough. It's not.

Milton often seems like he's not really there - but I do like Miles playing the public-schoolbbacon. soy-out-of-touch character
Or maybe he really is like that?

In todays Dave ep, I liked Josh's routine about breakfast buffets
I'm like that sometimes with buffets too (I was last year on holiday), I'll have bacon, sausage etc, cereal and THEN toast and orange/fruit

I watched last weeks again last night and I have to say that the first two in theis half of the series have been great. I hope they keep up the quality.

Miles is one of those people who sound posher than they look.

I liked in the first round, the answer was 8% and Milton said something about an obese person and a light person on a see-saw (as that is what "8%" seems to look like).

Oops in the post about Miles, I meant to say "public schoolboy" kind of character (like a younger Ian Hislop?), I dont like the way this laptop operates always moving lines, so you end up with odd words
