Has anyone tried this?

I bought it because it's...er... cheap. But it's like water. I had to double check to the bottle to see if I'd bought something non alcoholic by mistake.

So I guess I was the only one daft enough to fall for the cheap wine. A bottle for less than the cost of a small glass in a restaurant - yeah I should have known.

Usually 3.99, tastes nice and is 12%.

Well worth it and does the job.

I can't believe how cheap wine is in the supermarket.. it seems to have become cheaper than say, 5 years ago I don't buy wine much so I hadn't noticed prices going down!

Got a bottle of Lindelman's South African Chenin Blanc Chardonnay for £3.45 in ASDA a few weeks ago It was 12.5% which I'd say is pretty good for cheap wine too, I noticed quite a few 9%-11% wines for a similar price.

I would have 'valued' it at least £6 or £7 (as in, I would have paid that much for it had I not known the true price).

Popped into my local Co-Op last night for a bottle of Pinot Grigio and the cheapest one they sell is £7.99, was OK but not worth the price

Our local shop is selling (bucket loads) of Gallo, Blossom Hill and Echo Falls 3 for £10, the EF is not that great but the other 2 are not bad at all for the price. While i am here, same shop is selling 8 x 440ml cans of Skol lager £2.99 and not out of date either, i know it is only 2.8% but it's still OK when you've had a few normals drinks at the pub.

I use it when cooking Rissotto - does a good job

Pretty much all Pinot Grigios are crap. Preferred tipple of those who don't actually like wine.

Sounds about right. What was I thinking drinking supermarket 'house' wine?!

I grabbed a small bottle of their house hock earlier for use in a recipe. It was £1.65, the cheapest I could see. Half in the recipe, the rest in a glass. I don't really like wine but the portion I drank was actually pretty nice.

i have to disagree with this, as i massive wine drinker i would say that the price of wine has steadily rose in the last 5 years, certainly in the last 3.
5 years ago you tended to get much better offers across the whole price range of wine, more frequently and more honestly...these days prices in supermarkets can easily rise before an offer is introduced which makes it much less of an offer. you also used to be able to get a relatively quaffable
bottle of wine for around £6, now if you want a bottle you trust you are paying around the £10 mark.

Sainsbury's organic Pinot Gregio is only £6.99 on special offer. Is pretty good IMO.

The one I bought was about £3 (and tasted like it). Definitely not organic!
