'Natalie - a BAFTA-nominated composer who appeared in the closing ceremony of last summer's Olympics - was performing as a backing musician for the duo, and has subsequently apologised for her actions.'

well she's completely ruined her reputation now

Part of me wants her to go on "This Morning" actually. I'd love her to repeat her "manifesto" about being against Cowell and, apparently, miming on television. I have a feeling she'd make Samantha Brick look contrite ...

Exactly. That's a lot of hard work she's just thrown away in one moment. Very odd.

Plus, music, just like other businesses, is full of rejections and disappointments along the way - so what's her problem with Cowell? She was lucky to get the gig playing at the BGT final last night.

She might think it's funny, but will any potential employers? I doubt it.

So you think a member of the orchestra would just randomly turn up on the day of the show and know exactly what to play and what all of her various cues were?
No. I expect them to have half a dozen eggs in their possession as they go on stage to perform

I think not. It was a blatant Cowell PR stunt. Security waited so long before bothering to usher her off the stage that she had time to play a violin concerto if she'd had it with her. Why? Because it was a planned part of the show.

The thing is, for this to have been planned (which it wasn't ..), there would have had to have been a point to it.

If it was designed to gain the two guys the sympathy vote to get them to win, it failed. It also made no sense since Cowell had spoken of his admiration of plenty of other acts except them - Alice Fredenham as an example.

actually, I notice all the conspiracy theorists claiming Cowell would bend the rules to get her into the final have gone strangely quiet ...

If it was designed to get people talking about the show, it also made no sense because the show is the proverbial ratings juggernaut for ITV anyway so an extra few thousand viewers really isn't going to make any difference anyway. and the people who tuned in to see the incident would have very likely just tuned straight back out again.

if it was designed to get people talking about Cowell then why bother with the whole competition? why bother announcing a winner if his whole purpose of staging this stunt (which he didn't) was to get the focus on him and not on the winning act?

if it was designed to get more phone votes and, subsequently, more money for Cowell and ITV then it also failed because the sort of people who would tune in to see it would most likely be the ones who hate Cowell anyway.

so no, there really is NO logical reason why this was staged (which it wasn't..)

Are they viola players in a quartet?

Having been both in the audience and part of the 'backstage' of tv programmes I can assure you that bag checking is taken very seriously - all audience members have to check in their bags or have them well searched and people behind the scenes have the same. It's a live tv programme!

So no, she couldn't have brought 'a big shop' with her, it would have been taken and stored if anyone had done something so silly anyway. And her violin case would have been searched too. They don't take risks on programmes especially live ones.

So yes it's all rather fishy. I can't see how logistically she could have brought them in and then 'secreted' them. And nobody saw her and thought it odd? The bandmates who 'knew nothing about it' didn't think her keeping eggs in her case (as that's the only place they could have been) was odd?! Nonsense.
Exactly.
I had not seen it, but just watched the DM link, and she sneaks in just before the choir comes on. The choir is a long way away from the doors, yet she is right there when i opens. You tell me this wasn't rehearsed?

The boys keep on singing, you never even hear them being surprised by it all. Even a seasoned singer would respond to something like this. This was a set-up. And hey, it's worked, we're talking about it.

You know that is my thoughts exactly.

Why was she smiling when she was throwing the eggs and why was Cowell the only one of the judges not bothered about what was heading there way??

She will probably make quite a bit of money out of all this in return over the coming months ...

It would seem she's been paid off to not tell her story in return for not being charged with assault, or something similar.

Did they carry out an internal search?

She may have a magic act on the side where she swallows things and regurgitates them on stage, or she'd swallowed them a few days before and went to the loo at the studio to retrieve them?

Or she could have inserted them from the bottom up and got them out at the studio?

The opposite would likely be true. A seasoned singer would likely have the experience and demeanor to keep singing while security sorted things out.

It would seem she's been paid off to not tell her story in return for not being charged with assault, or something similar.
Is this just something you've dreamt up or have you something tangible to go on?

I got the impression that she wasn't the full shilling. I seriously doubt it was a publicity stunt, just a mad b!tch who wanted her 15 mins.

Yeah...but she would have had to do it after the watershed or OFCOM would complain.

Maybe we should create a Natalie Holt fan club? Let's face it, she's the true star of BGT 2013 and I'm beginning to warm to her

Just based on other theories in the thread.

fair play. she wouldn't be charged with assault anyway - it's no more than a public order offence.

No, it really isn't. She most likely had a backstage pass as a member of the orchestra, so she would have already been assumed to be 'trustworthy'.

She also likely have been seen at rehearsals all week without incident as well, so i'd say it's more than plausible that security wouldn't have given her a second look on the day.

I just wish one of the two of them singing had reached across and grabbed an egg out of the box and mashed it on her head. Now that would have been funny ..

You don't have a 'backstage pass' at TV studios - it's not a covert venue. Performers would be escorted in and 'checked in' in similar ways to the audience. Then held in green room/dressing areas and escorted onto the stage.

You don't wander around willy nilly on a TV show unless you are part of the immediate team regardless of whether or not you've been in and out of rehearsals or not.
