I think that at some level, either consciously or subconsciously, many of us do. I include myself here as well by the way. I confess that things like this may affect me from time to time.
It's behind the reason why many say young children shouldn't be on on this show because it's said that they corrupt the nature of the competition and it becomes less about talent. Which to an extent I think can be true in part.
However, since Jack was in it, that's it, you can't do anything about it once the competition has started. You have to live with it. You can only hope that they sort things out in a future series.
I wish they didn't try to focus on sob stories, or cute kids, or nans. But when they do it can be difficult for it to not have an influence on us.
The thing is that although these factors may or may not help certain acts on this show with the framework of the show supporting them, once they leave the show it may be a much harder slog when people choose whether to pay money out of their own pocket to go and see them.
What I think is probably cruel is to give so many of the contestants false hope that they have a wonderful career ahead of them. Which this year the show has done so often.
