Start a thread slamming virtually ANY comedian and you'll find your comments will be endorsed 'over and over again', no matter how popular the act. In fact, the more popular, the more commentors you'll probably find saying they're no good.



Very good point. Simon doesn't see the reality, which is that it was an inherently funny situation that most of the country was probably already laughing about.

I don't think he was especially arrogant in his behaviour, but I did get the impression that he thought he was going to win. I think maybe he started believing the hype.

I think the only way to judge him fairly, is to ask yourself if he was able bodied do you think he should have been runner up. My honest answer is no.

Of course humour is subjective, each to their own but I was saying much the same thing to the poster who wrote saying that a different opinion to their own was rubbish.

Steve was genuinely funny and was unlucky not to get to the final in the first place.

As for Francine, you didn't make it clear whether you were laughing with her or at her. Big difference, although if she made you laugh that has to be better than sitting through an uninspiring 14yr old droning on.

Fair enough, gilliedew. I didn't find him particularly funny myself, and thought the material mostly concerned old news. But as you say, each to their own. I still thought some of his off-the-cuff lines were good.

It's probably a good thing that he didn't win too, because as a professional stand-up comedian one of the things you'd need to succeed at is to learn how to take rejection.
In the real world it will be a lot harder.

I didn't find him particularly funny but I admire the dude. If I think back to when I was 14, I was a little shit. If I could I would go back in time and slap myself many times over. He has shown more maturity than most other people his age and has a lot to learn. Let's cut the dude some slack.

Firstly why did Cowell say that only Jack could make funny of what just happened when Dec had already told a joke about it.

What hasn't been mentioned in this thread is Jack's comment about the charity aspect of the voting. He 'joked' that the 15p went to the royal variety charity "otherwise known as the Queen's back pocket." The charity has now forwarded a complaint about this comment to ITV Producers.

First off, I don't think he thought he was going to win at all. Most people knew that Attraction were the hot favourites (and rightly so).
And as for saying he didn't deserve to come second, he got the vote so clearly he did. That'd be like me complaining that 'Pre-School' didn't deserve to be in the final since I personally thought they were crap.


This argument is stupid. Yes he jokes about his disability, but that's what comedians do- they joke about themselves and what they know. How is it any different from comedians who joke about them being fat, or foreign, or a woman etcetera (although i'm not saying being foreign or a woman is akin to having a disability of course )?

The only thing I will agree on you with is that he needs to work on his delivery, but that would usually come with age and experience.

Although to be frank, he delivered the joke really badly so I would understand anyone who didn't get it.

I didn't find him arrogant, I thought he seemed like quite a pleasant guy actually. I didn't find his act brilliant, though ironically, I found his reply to some questions funnier and he seems to have quite a natural quick wit, but he doesn't need to answer everything with a joke which was a little annoying, sometimes answering a question seriously would have been more appropriate.

But, to be fair, he never really delivered any 'jokes' very well. We have to realise that he is only 14 and was probably somewhat overcome with the studio atmosphere; nothing like when he 'started' his career by performing at his parents Silver Wedding where anything said by the children would have been deemed uproariously funny.

The real fault, if fault there is, is in the way that the Judges totally over-reacted with their false and cynical enthusiasm. Gave the poor lad a false impression of his own 'brilliance' What 14 year old would not be flattered by such attention and, at the same time, not be capable of detecting how cynical and manipulative it all was.

SOOOO pleased he didn't win. That is all.
