So a Hungarian act won tonight.
Simon Cowell has been keen to say the competition is open to any country.
I think this years winners deserved to win.
But should non UK acts be allowed to enter next year?.

Perhaps it's time to rename the show.

Perhaps the people that care about it that much should seek professional help.

I wanted Attraction to win from the moment I saw their audition. I don't have a problem that they aren't British, or don't work here and they live in Hungary. I really don't have a problem with that at all.

However, as it is called BGT, then I think the show should be renamed to cover anyone that wants to audition that doesn't actually live in Britain. I think that makes more sense, otherwise the title of the show seems a bit odd.

I would hate to be denied seeing talent like Attraction just because of the name being BGT. I love that BGT provided a showcase for their talent. Brilliant act.

The competition is held for Britain to decide which act entertains them most, it doesn't matter where the act comes from.

You could rename it to Britain Likes Talent or Britain Appreciates Talent, but how anal would that be. I mean what's the point. lol

Britain is not the U.K, do you want the U.K or Britain or both?

Would have been nice if the opening Union Flag of the act was up the correct way !

I think the talent pool has reached the point where overseas acts are needed to keep up the quality of the show. Attraction were definitely the best act and deserved to win. The name should not be changed either.

Of course.

The amount of xenophobic crap spouted tonight is unreal

THANK YOU for knowing the difference!! It winds me up people going on about Britain and UK this and that in the same sentence,...which is it?? BGT technically should not include NI but no one says anything. The best act won regardless of where they are from. The was no act in the whole process this year that was anything like it, Comedians...meh. So-so impressionists...meh.

Spot on.Time to rename the show.
At least it'll encourage more acts from around the world.
I think this years standard was poor.Cowell would agree.

The best act might have won but it wasn't British.

I really hope someone from Kerry wins next year. It would be interesting to see how many of the people complaining tonight would also be up in arms or how many wouldn't bother because (a) they don't know the difference or (b) they think they own the ROI as well...
Is it really patriotism talking when venting frustration over the technical title of the show? With some of these comments, I'm not so sure.

Yes.
It's sending out a clear message ignore the Murdoch/Mail media who would have the entire world think we are all Xenophobes.
When one group of people are getting all the medias attention its so easy for that impression to be given.

only change would love seeing is a lower age cap on entrants utterly insane so many kid's acts in the final and the entire series its bad enough having BGT turned into XFactor II.

I've always thought it was for Brits only.I can't remember the history of foreign acts in the show.
It's pretty grim when you see how dire many of the acts were this year.
Perhaps Simon Cowell realises it's the law of diminishing returns. To stick to UK acts only would sound the death knell for the show.
Better to adapt and survive than to stifle and die.
I do think the show title is out of sorts with the reality though.

Next thing you know they will be allowing people from the I.O.M to audition, imagine those folk coming over here in their boats and winning our talent competition.
