So the wildcard almost made top 3, man that's so unlucky. I wanted him to win but at worst i was hoping top 3.

He was very close to being 2nd place in his semi-final too, only 0.4%.

I'm very skeptical about the running order after seeing Steve's act. I have the feeling the original intention was to reveal the wildcard before Attraction performed (so he would be the penultimate performer) but then they saw his act, realised he could be a threat to the preferred top three ( Attraction, Jack and one of Richard and Adam/The Luminites), so moved him earlier.

Agree with Fudd.

On reflection, it looks like if Steve had performed later-on in the show, and his and Jack's slots were swapped-around, he could have taken some (more) of Jack's vote.

From his gushing comments (unfairly stating that he should win), it seems that Cowell wanted Jack to be his Victor for some reason... perhaps purely selifishly, to stick two fingers up to Brucie et al?

Whatever, it's a great result for Steve, to come back as a surprise contender and get that much of the vote.

Shame that Steve didn't make the final three. Hopefully, his BGT appearance will ensure lucrative bookings.......

Was the egg lady really responsible for Richard & Adam pipping him to the post ??

Looking at the figures feel really bad for steve, I think considering no one knew till the evening who it was he should have been revealed last to level the playing field a little bit. The egg incident must hav helped Richard and Adam a little bit.

As good as steve was I still don't think simon wanted him to win by dragging Sunita from audience maybe stealing limelight a bit.

Francine Lewis totally bombed only getting two percent of the vote.

interestingly in her semi final Alex Kierl considering he was on way earlier in the show was a mere two percent off winning the semi final.

I thought he was brilliant, and I agree he could have been in the top 3 if the dullards hadn't had their act sabotaged by the crazy egg lady. I hope he does well in the future.

Steve for me was the best act of the night... overall on all performances....Attraction were the best, so good luck to them, but its Steve's performance that I have watched to death on youtube !! Absolutely brilliant. Really hope things start happening for him now in the business.

I would like the wildcard to come on last in the future, like you say, it would even things up a little and also build up tension over the night as to see who the act is going to be. I do think if Steve had been on right towards the end he could have made Top3 as the buzz around an act gets a bit lost by the end. I wonder why more wasnt hyped around him before, they barely showed his audition and Simon obviously wasnt keen on him winning - yet its a variety act and surely what the show wants to promote: somebody who has worked most of their life a their talent getting a shot at the big time.

Watched his performance back today and was better than I originally though, good jokes and fun - the Simon/Sinitta thing was clever as people will remember that part and im sure he will get hired for big one-off events after that.

Just re watched it , his act was 10 times better than Jack and franchise put together .

I would have had

1st place luminites / Steve couldn't choose between them
2nd place per school those kids had real attitude
3rd attraction as brilliant as they are a British act should of won

Assuming egg-gate pushed Richard and Adam into third (less than 1% difference screams sympathy/'well done for being so professional'), I find it fascinating we would have had a final three devoid of any singers at all! Would that have been a first? I can't think of a final three without even one singing act ever! Also interesting to note that R and A are the only winners of semi final one not to make it into the top two!

Hasn't the wildcard always been revealed towards the end of the show?

It's a shame for Steve but I'm sure he'll do well after the show. He came across as a really nice guy so here's hoping

I like he idea of the public voting for the wildcard.
AND...the wildcard performs last in the final itself.

I was thrilled when I saw that Steve was the wild card. I loved his audition and semi-final performance and was very disappointed he lost out in his heat.

Thank goodness he was given another opportunity to perform.

I thought his material was brilliant, as were his puppets. I would happily go see him on tour.

In Spelbound's year, the top 3 were Spelbound (gymnasts), Twist and Pulse (dance duo) and Kieran something-or-other (drummer).
So there has been a final 3 with no singing act before, but I do think this year that the overload of singers did limit the appeal of them.

I think this guy will do well from BGT & good luck to him..Does anyone else think he could have become boring the more we got to see his act? What i'm trying to say is, Maybe the wild card was his saving grace! Either way good luck to him!

It was a pity that his first on-screen appearance in the auditions was edited down to a few seconds.

Compared with that, Jack the 'comedian' had a full time slot on all three appearances, together with totally over-the-top Judges comments.

Steve had only two full appearances, to make an impression on the audience and fairly low key Judges comments.

Just another example of how the audience can be manipulated. Cowell gave the impression, (no not her!), that he didn't really want him in the final as the wild-card but he had to change his views after the first class performance. Even his performance was spoiled by the pre-pubescent antics of the bovine Walliams. (Perhaps Walliams deserved the eggs for that 'interference' alone.)

I'd like to see it. It's obvious they didn't expect him to do well or they would have shown it, can't think of any other finalists who didn't get their audition shown in full.

It's also interesting to note that, with the exception of Jack Carroll, all the child acts did very poorly in the vote.
