Will BGT air in spring or autumn 2014?

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but the 'apply for the next series' VT says that applications close in February 2014. Normally, they close in September with open auditions in the November/December, judges auditions in Jan/Feb and then starting on TV in April.

So, with February usually the date for X Factor closing their applications, could BGT be about to move into the Autumn slot next year?

Probably all down to the Open Auditions being later.

They could easily change it though.

Hopefully by then ITV would have seen sense and ditched the programme by then.

I saw this too and wondered the exact same thing! I hope they keep it in the April/May slot. I think delaying it for later in the summer is a bad move.

Of course should the X Factor not be on after the new series then BGT would be an ideal replacement, however the format would need to be changed to accommodate the 3 months up to Christmas.

The only problem would be Simon's involvement with his ties to X Factor USA

I guess they could start it at the beginning of September and run it through until October half term with the current format. I'm sure Simon said a couple of years ago the only way he could do UK X Factor is if ITV moved it into January which back then they refused to do. Maybe ITV want Cowell back and are considering replacing DOI slot with TXF

The auditions were open to February 1st this year (being extended after originally only being open until September) so it's not much difference.

Simon wouldn't be a judge, he's not really needed for the show anyway, X Factor needs him more

Hopefully, this means The X Factor is being canned. It's still a good show, but it is running out of steam now. I do prefer BGT on in its current slot, though, but it would still be better to watch at that time of year than the X Factor is.

I think it would get more viewers in the autumn.
