"Britain's Got Talent star Jack Carroll was getting tips on comedy from
disgraced comedian Jason Manford to prepare for his act on last night's final"

Did Jack use Jason's tips or not, I wonder?

Regardless of what the tabloids might think of Jason, he's an experienced comedian who has done many, many live shows so any advice and help he could have given Jack would have been for his benefit.

Just because Manford has been caught playing away doesn't automatically make him any worse at his job.

Depends on the circumstances.
A mate of mine caught the plumber shagging his wife and broke both his arms - the plumber can't navigate sink 'U' bends any more.

It's not comparable. As long as Manford isn't robbed of the power of speech or writing things down, he could still offer advice to someone based on his years in the business.

I actually agree with you. The 'playing away' bit is the Mail Online's comment - not mine. My 'plumber' bit was tongue-in-cheek (thought you would have realised that - sorry!

The point of my thread is - Did Jack use Jason's tips or not?
I think he may have done. For instance, I've heard/read the horsemeat joke, "Horses for courses - horses for main courses" a few times before Jack ("all my own material") Carroll told it.

heh, no worries . that's the curse of ascii text - the humour isn't always obvious!

You do realise saying "end of" doesn't actually make it so?

no Manford's help did not hinder Jack.

Although he did have some amusing bits in his routine, what hindered Jack was his not-very-pacy and rather awkward delivery, But that will come with experience I am sure.

No, Jack wasn't robbed of first place, because he wasn't the best contestant.

I wouldn't have place him 2nd personally. I didn't find him that funny, his delivery was slow and he took ages to get the jokes out.

Fair play to him for having a go, but I work with far funnier kids than him. I don't think he'll be around much longer as there are much better acts out there.

I doubt of Jack fans took any notice and voted for someone else. I didn't find him funny, good luck to him, he will get better but I think the dancers deserved to win.

Well when I watched Jack's act it felt as though it had bits in it that sounded like they were written by somebody else.
It's just that I felt that there were occasional bits that somehow didn't ring true coming from Jack's own mouth.

I'm sure that Jack is quite intelligent, but there were one or two words that didn't sound like the vocabulary that a 14 year old would use.

Another example was the way that he delivered the joke about being told that he has 'funny bones', but that it was his condition.
Listen to the way that he says the words 'funny bones' and the emphasis on the word 'funny' is all wrong, as though he'd never heard the expression before.
It's difficult to explain in text, you just have to watch it to see the emphasis.

I would have thought that the breaks would give him a greater degree of flexibility for said task.

I don't know what happened to jack I loved his audition and semi final performance but he was shit in the final. Old crap unfunny jokes stopped him winning.

Oh and the fact attraction were brilliant!

It wasn't even really a joke. Just pointing out that Greece's economy did bad,y despite hosting the Olympics. There was no twist, or unexpected reveal, or pun, or irony. I didn't get why people laughed.

Presumably your mate can now only navigate within a 5 foot radius of his prison bed.

That was probably due to the Cerebral Palsy affecting his speech.
