giffgaff have a £12 plan with 250 minutes, u/l texts and u/l data without tethering which is the same as 3.
As for the 'utterly and completely useless' comment...... that is not what Root Metrics have been publishing when they have been reporting on tests conducted across the UK. I doubt if 25 million customers would put up with something that is 'utterly and completely useless' for long either.”
I am thinking of the PAYG tariffs, which is what GiffGaff is closer to because it isn't a contract and you can stop paying at any time.

AYCE data, 300 minutes, 3000 texts, 15 quid. You're right, it is fewer minutes and texts but I don't care - I don't make many phone calls and the few messages I send are normally WhatsApp or iMessage or emails anyway.
Tethering doesn't bother me, I buy those cheap 3 mobile broadband SIMs and use it with my laptop's integrated 3G.
I'll pay the 3 quid more for a network that lets me use the internet. I should point out that I have been a giffgaff customer and know exactly what it is like, and I know exactly how poor O2's 3G coverage is here. 3 are the complete opposite.
We've been through the customer thing before. I've seen people who are openly whinging about their O2 phone feeling slow because they're not in a 3G area. That doesn't mean they're happy with O2, but it doesn't seem like they want to move either. Perhaps they think that all networks are the same. You can't say that all 25 million are happy or unhappy with them as no one has surveyed them all.
