I purchased a green iphone charger off eBay,this is obviously a fake and dosnt work as well as the original white ones for 2 reasons 1. it takes longer to charger 2. diring the dead of night it whistles and sqeaks a bit, the biggest problem was last night when im sure it gave me a shock, im just wondering how i can get this checked for safety

Very possible, if you look on Youtube you'll see electrical engineers taking these apart and doing comparisons to the real thing.

What they find is shocking, one found that putting a radio in the same room they could hear the RF noise coming from the thing like crazy when it was on, bleeding all over radio frequencies. Another found that they were a severe fire hazard as the spacing between critical electrical components was 1mm or less.

Some of them are real hazards, some of them are ok, but I wouldn't risk one burning down my house. Just buy a decent one.

Plus even the ones on eBay that look genuine often aren't, and they use the same dodgy designs and components.

Seriously if you value your safety, throw it in the bin and spend a little extra on a genuine one or even goto the likes of Tesco or Asda and purchase a USB plug.

I agree. My wife brought some 'cheap' leads from eBay and they all fell apart. You get what you pay for.
