Thanks for the heads up, great to see them following the design guidelines giving a clean easy to use UI. Only two things I would change, and its really a matter of taste, the fonts are a little too big in places and the menu options are emboldened (a la iOs)

For an initial release, it's very good.

what's the point of a big data hungry app when u can just use ur browser? nice app but pointless as far as im concerned.

It's not data hungry though.

And I find the app better than a web browser as it's more suited to the smaller screen.

Why do you think an app uses more data than the browser?

Can you really not see the data, memory, speed and battery advantages of an app?

Thanks, good app. Could do with a few more options on the widget side of things. Especially the weather by hour rather than day, plus maybe some different shapes and sizes.

I would like to switch off location. In order to find out the weather in Oxford when i am away, i need to add it as a location, but when i am IN Oxford it will appear twice!

It has weather by hour. Swipe to the left. Also tap an hour and it has a more detailed view like humidity, visibility etc.

Edit: Or are you referring specifically to widgets on android? I've never used android so apologies for the ignorance.

From what I can gather the browers on some phones are not that good and so apps are needed to do what a decent browser does.

In addition the app will already have all the graphics and images saved, and will only require data from the BBC servers to decide what image to show. Using the website in the browser will load the images every time you visit, therefore using a lot more data than the app.

The BBC local weather page is not exactly top-heavy with images and graphics.

No, but the app will use less data than the website, so it is deffinately not data hungry like purple bunny claimed.

Just had a look, first impressions, very good. Only one minor issue, when I scroll through the hours on different days, Thursday onwards, the time of day gets cut off at the top, and the times for sunrise/set are cut off too. Addition of landscape mode would be most welcome.
