Io7 should look pretty decent on iPad from what I've seen. Some of the paddies that android 'fanboys' are getting into abou this being the end of apple and the world as we know it is nonsense.
The fandroids have been predicting the end of Apple for years. Still hasn't happened.

I agree iOS7 will look amazing on the iPad. Can't wait!!

I'm an Apple fan very pro. Leaving Apple after the IOS7 announcement.

No company can dominate forever.

Apple has released a shocker OS!

Have you actually tried it? Or just basing your hysteria on the few screenshots and videos available? Because from the little I've seen, it isn't that radically different from iOS6. The most noticeable and obvious difference is the new set of icons for the default apps.

The android fan boys were coming for Apple no matter what they did. They moan about Apple not having certain features and how it's so terrible, yet now that Apple has added said features they mock them saying that oh well android have had these for years/ apple are copying android.

It's all fun though

Since Android itself started life as a complete rip off of iOS, I think such accusations are a bit comical.

No, it wasn't. Unless you mean icons arranged in a grid, which had never been used before Apple .....

But the updates to iOS7 are very blatant direct copying - tasking view is either webOS/Symbian/Android (and still done better on the playbook and meego), notifications center is now Android or Symbian.

The themes appear to be a direct copy of the Jolla colour schemes (except Jolla appears to do it better).

I'll welcome the update on my 4S, but there's nothing in there that'll make it an improvement .... and it'll be interesting to see what it breaks on our corporate security.

So you don't want multi-tasking? iradio, notifications centre etc on your iPhone?

Pretty sure icons arranged in a grid were first seen on a Psion 3a, back in the late 90s, then on to Palm OS and Windows CE PDAs and then smartphones.

Care to point us in the direction of these "paddies"? From what I've read, most of the dissenting voices seem to be coming from iOS users rather than Android ones, and the only thing I can see that resembles a "paddy" would be those threatening to ditch iOS over the changes and pick up a new OS.

They moan about Apple not having certain features and how it's so terrible, yet now that Apple has added said features they mock them saying that oh well android have had these for years/ apple are copying android.
For me and perhaps others, there are three elements to this. Firstly, I think it's more the way these features are added that results in the mocking. The way Apple still peddle these "revolutionary" ideas even though they've featured in rival phones for months or longer. "Woo! iOS7 can multitask!" "Woo! iOS7 has WiFi toggles!" "Woo! iOS7 has animated/responsive wallpaper!" "Woo! iOS7 can give you an alert when you need to leave to get to an appointment!". Us poor Android folk just don't know what we're missing with revolutionary features like that coming to the iPhone(!). Copying is one thing (and happens from everywhere to everywhere, it's nothing new), but I've not known a company to be so brazen in passing it off as their own.

Secondly, in many of the arguments on here and elsewhere, when features are pointed out as "missing" from iOS, iOS fans pipe up to say that they're pointless anyway. Remember how the 3.5" screen was perfect? Or the 7" tablet was stupid? Or how notifications that pop up one at a time and need to be dismissed there and then were just fine? Or how multitasking on a phone was just a massive battery hog and unnecessary and oh but wait now we've got limited multitasking because it's "multitasking done right" so it's better than Android because we don't need full multitasking on a phone and...?

And finally, I guess the biggest kick in the nuts for people on the Android side of the fence is the number of times we have watched court case after court case, legal proceedings after legal proceedings of Apple suing the world and his dog for (in over-simplified terms) copying their product, and yet still have the brass balls and audacity to launch their "revolutionary" new OS as a Frankenstein's monster of bits and pieces from other OSes.

So that's why, I think, Android users "moan" and "mock", but as you say it's mostly fun. And having said all of that, as I said in an earlier post - I actually don't mind the new design all that much.

Yes along with touch screens. I still have a Psion and a 5mx, great little machines.

Also I had a Sony Ericsson P910i and it was a brilliant phone and PDA.

Yeah, remember them as well.

Used to want one at the time...probably would not be bothered now!

No I haven't. Hence I'm not having a melt down. Is it really as dire as the hysteria suggests?

its quite nice as long as you have a wall paper. If you dont you cant see the weather app etc because its just grey text on a totally white panel! Very bad design decision there imo.

It is also very different from iOS6, its not just new icons. Apple would have been slated even more if it were just new icons!

Not yet. It'll be an issue of country by country licensing deals, like with all these kinds of services. Hopefully it'll be available in the UK by the time iOS 7 is released to the public.

i was maybe a bit harsh in my first assessment, but check out the obvious thread in the mobiles forum.

Multi tasking? You've been drinking the cool-aid, haven't you? Its a skin on top of the current multi tasking. No real functional change, they've just made it look like Android.

Notifications center - no functional change for me, already have my mails appear on the lock screen (which is a security concern)

What does iRadio offer over internet radio?

Overall iOS 7 is of no real world functional improvement. It just looks "nicer"

What about the difference in how multitasking actually works? Updating third-party apps in the background, for example, which doesn't happen now.

There are some differences to the way Notification Centre works, most notably its appearance on the lock screen. And of course, Control Centre now gives you quick access toggles, as well as moving the brightness, music control, volume control etc to a more logical place.

These changes might represent things already available on Android, but it definitely offers some functional change from iOS 6. Why do you think it doesn't?

So they've changed it to make it multitask less?

How does that make it multitask less if 3rd party apps are now going to be able to run in the background?

I meant it happens in iOS 7 but doesn't happen now in iOS 6.
