htc desire
Have an HTC desire mobile that mainly fails to boot up,
if it does ,when it goes to stand bye mode it switches off. tried "recovery" & removing battery . Is there a fix I can download & put on the HD card ?? |

Maybe try asking at http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/. When/if you do try to include as much detail as possible, is the phone rooted? What does 'tried "recovery"' mean?

Back up stuff like contacts, sms, photos and reset to factory defaults.
If you are happy to fiddle around, root it and you can put on this ROM for extending it's useful life by some margin. |

tried all that , when it does boot up it is ok till it goes into standby mode , won't come out of it ,just tries to start up & sticks on start up screen.
If I power it off before it goes into standby it will start OK next time I switch on ?? |

Dunno, if you have reset to factory defaults and it is still going wrong, I would wonder if it a hardware issue, but no experience of that.

Sounds like the motherboard issue. I'm not 100% but thought that had been fixed and only affected earlier models.
Did you notice it getting particularly hot? |
