This ad just on itv for 'cash lady' giving out instant loans in a hour.

She was fronting the ad on tv and she's on their website.

WTF she was declared bankrupt!

I was disappointed when they only banned part of the advert. Any advert relating to payday loans shouldn't be allowed on air. It's bad enough they can legally advertise gambling.

How are they getting conned? Nobody forces these people to take the loan, nobody hides the fact that its an expensive way of borrowing. Sob stories about people getting into trouble through these companies are boring now, dont want to get into debt and pay a ridiculous amount of money back then dont take loans off these companies. If you want the money for something then, shock horror, save!!

Is she the cash lady?
Will there be some people who think of less by her name of Kerry Katona but when they see her they think of 'that cash lady'?

People have been banned from advertising payday loans at universities round here. I bet Kerry's being paid a nice sum for every time this advert gets shown. I think these payday loan companies will be playing on some people's desperation in these hard times. People are far better off just saving up for any items they want. At least this way, they'll get the item for what it should cost.

I'm sure the stench of desperation on her adds to the brand. I think she is a good choice.

Have a look at the type of people who are likely to get taken in by these ads. If you can't see how payday loans are actively preying upon the most vulnerable people in society and bring yourself to feel some compassion or even basic understanding, that's a shame.

Payday loans need to be banned and it's a disgrace our government let them operate in this country on any level.

I bet you don't have money problems with that "holier than thou" attitude of yours.I'm fine financially but at least I have compassion for people who are sucked in by these leeches. Maybe you should do the same.

These loan companies use Katona because they know she's adored by the gullible and mainly financially illiterate female 20-30 market. You only had to be at any of the recent Big Reunion gigs where she sang with the rest of Atomic Kitten to see the height of the esteem in which she's held.

These payday loan companies are rubbing their hands with glee at being able to prey on vulnerable people during these difficult times.

Exactly. I highly doubt they just plucked some random celebrity to appear in their advert. They'll know what the majority of viewers of Kerry's past reality TV series were like. They'll probably have mostly been the part of the underclass who have trouble buying expensive electrical goods.

All payday loan companies should be banned. Won't happen of course since they are politically connected.

I was taught the same but you really don't sound compassionate at all. You sound like you have no understanding of how people can be in the position where they thinking using a Payday loan service will help them, which is a bit sad if you're an adult who has been out in the world.

Of course they "prey on the vulnerable". Didn't you know they roam around the streets in horse drawn carriages, scooping up "the vulnerable" and forcing them to apply for loans they neither want nor can afford?

I'm afraid I don't have a jot of sympathy for people who willingly take out short term loans they know they can't pay back. For a lot of these people, I suspect their priorities as to what they spend their money on are completely back to front, so they feel they have to have a loan because they can't afford to cover their 200 Blackberry bill I don't doubt.

And I'm afraid you're stereotyping.

Well, you don't have sympathy but I do. That's the difference. Yes, they should save if they can't manage to get a credit card, but I can still manage to have sympathy for people who have to resort to using this type of loan. Also, like the above poster says (in a way), I'm assuming not everyone will get a payday loan for things like that, some will probably use theirs to get something that they need.

That's it in a nutshell.

I would never ever use these companies. They are legalised loan sharks. In fact, you would probably get a better rate off a loan shark.
I saw some once taking out a payday loan to pay off his other payday loan! And whilst I was there the girl behind the counter ask another man if he had any jewellery at home, because she could lend him money with a better rate on that.
I was disgusted.

What the bloody hell's the point in that? They'd only be increasing the size of their loan. That's ridiculous and would just end up in having a loan of thousands of pounds, maybe tens of thousands if they continued to do this every so often. Some people can be really thick at times. I can only put that down to impatience at wanting to get something else. It is a ridiculous way of going on though.

To all of those idiots who are banging on about her being bankrupt, and how could she afford this and that.

The point is she WAS bankrupt. Bankruptcy usually lasts 1 year whilst the administrators look to see what assets you have and which creditors should be paid back, if at all. After one year you are discharged from bankruptcy and able to obtain credit again, and pretty much continue life as normal.

It does not last a lifetime, and believe you and me it is a very tough process to go through. So please stop tarnishing her with this brush - she had lost her home and most of her wealth because of it - She can now quite rightly do as she pleases.

It was with the same payday loan company as well! They were more that willing to do it of course. This is how people get themselves into a right old state with these outfits!.

A lot of the reason I don't have sympathy for these people is that i've been there - I've had less than no money and i've had to repeatedly pawn all my stuff at the local Cash Converters just to make ends meet. I've been "the vulnerable" and I most certainly never felt "preyed" upon.

If someone is stupid enough to take out a short term, high interest loan for something that may not be an essential, then that's entirely their own fault if they can't pay it back.

I think they do it out of impatience. They need to sit down and have a think about what the end result will be because of taking out that ridiculous second loan on top of their first loan. I can't believe some people do that.
