It's no secret they were after him last year- I wonder if he's going to be doing a one off pro demonstration, or if they're trying to sign him for a more extended period.

He would never do that ; He loves the limelight too much at DWTS and enjoy being the " Golden Boy " so yeah its not going to happen. And to play second fiddle to the other pros at SCD ?

I know Derek is talented but I'm so glad he's not on Strictly because he would no doubt demand ringer after ringer like he gets on DWTS! The favouritism towards him on DWTS is just getting ridiculous!

Darren and Lilia have been tweeting about being in meetings for DWTS over the last couple of days, they have just signed up for a second series of something - Im assuming DWTS Lebonon so Dereks tweet could be something related to that

LOL - 100% agree with you there is no way he would cope on SCD, judges are much harsher about ruled than on DWTS, stick to more traditional ballroom especially, less opportunity for out of hold 'showing off'!!

He may be planning something at SCD , who knows ? But there is no way he would be a pro on SCD and to suggest that (especially now ) is laughable no offense.

Just imagine how hard it is for some Dwts fans (who like other pros or who would like to see them get some recognition ) to watch it because of the huge and I mean huge favoritism that Derek gets on the show and many other pros get overlooked in comparison SMH .

Well it did say ideas for the future and with dwts being cut to one show a week who knows what the future is for the dwts is. Saying this every year there are rumours of Derek joining SCD and it hasn't happened yet. As for the suggestion that Derek ''demands"' ringers where is the proof of that? Jennifer, Ricki & Nicole asked for Derek. As for breaking rules and not being in hold have u seen dancing with the stars all the pros do that not just Derek. Yes the favouritism is annoying but it is hardly Derek's fault it is the producers.

If DWTS does continue to drop in ratings or if it get axed I could see some of their pros trying for strictly don't mean they will get on it though

Even his OWN fans admit that there is a huge favoritism that he gets on the show; so to say that the fact that he always gets ringers on the show or the fact that he is most of the time complimented for being a " genius " for his creative choreography (which he is in some ways because imho he is the best choreographer on Dwts ) while other pros gets rip-off by the judges for doing the same exact thing scream favoritism to me.
Lets not forget to mention how he gets the honor to showcase his choreography MANY times during the season (vying for an Emmy nomination of course ) while the other pros dont get that luxury. I like Derek but please lets be honest he is hugely favored on Dwts, no one can dispute that fact IMO.

Another thing , even if he doesn't get ringer a la Ricky or Maria the judges still overscore these dancers like they did in their respective seasons because of him unbelievable and he is not favored ? yeah right .

Sorry where did I say he wasn't favoured? And if you read my post again I said the favourism was annoying. Saying that a lot and i mean A LOT of dances in dwts are overmarked on dwts as they (pros & public alike) believe a 7 is a low score I wish for just one series they had Craig to see what a low score really was.

All I said was that the favourism was the producer's fault not Derek's. the idea that Derek has the producers and network in a headlock while demanding the best contestant is ridiculous and if he really had that power would he not have got Zendaya instead of Kellie as his partner? Celebs who danced with Derek in the past have said that they requested Derek. I agree with you that Derek is the best choreographer on DWTS, he is also great at hiding flaws in celebs & making them look good. Do I wish that tptb would gives others a chance to shine especially Tristan? YES do I think any of this is Derek's fault? NO

I am so sick of people getting at Derek for the favouritism when it is the judges & producer's fault what do people expect Derek to do - oh don't give me a good contestant? Now judges are you sure about those marks we were out of hold for blah long and she stumped her toe over there? He is paid to do a job & he does it just like every other pro. No pro in his position would complain.

I don't have 'proof' that Derek demands ringers - I didn't think you needed proof for an opinion and it's just my opinion that he wouldn't do DWTS if he wasn't given them regularly.

I agree that if he was always given bad contestants he probably wouldn't be on the show but I think that is the same with most established pros on shows like this.

Julianne always got good contestants but decided to walk away. Flavia & Vincent were bound to get duds this year & decided that it was better to leave on a high, Maksim standard of contestants was getting worst and he was getting other offers of work so he left. Erin wasn't getting partners that could win so walked and lets not bring up Aliona. This also applies to Camilla and Karen. This may not have been the only reason they left but it played a part.

It is the producers who decides the pairings not Derek. I just don't see Derek walking in to a producer's office and demanding a good partner or threating to quit. It is up to the producers. All the pros want the best celeb they can get it is only natural as it gives them a better chance to win and to show off their choreography & ability as a dancer and teacher.

I do watch DWTS but I haven't watched it consistently through every series.

I believe that Julianne got a few celebs that weren't that great. After she'd won twice she probably felt there was nothing more to prove and didn't Julianne eventually walk away because she wanted to pursue a career in music and acting which she has done very successfully?

I think someone like Derek might have an agent who does the negotiations for him - I don't have proof of that mind I agree any pro in his position would do the same & he is no doubt good for ratings but what more has he got left to prove? I'm sure he can't be short of offers in the world of entertainment?

Although I'm very sad that Flavia and Vincent have left, I'm happy they left on a high & I agree they most likely would have got duds if they'd come back but they would have accepted the task graciously as they've had them before - as did Erin whomever she was given. It's a pity Erin and Vincent never won but I think they can be more than satisfied with what they achieved on the show. Probably they all felt they had nothing more to prove on SCD and as they all said in their statements they were leaving to pursue other projects.

It's just with some pros and I'm not just talking about Derek on DWTS - on our series as well, you get the feeling they think they should have preferrential treatment, and then if that happens like it has done in the past on both shows all you're left with is a one sided showcase for a particular pro's work dominating the show.

Personally I think Derek would have walked away this season but the producers got him to stay as they didn't want to lose their two biggest male pros in Maksim & Derek. I have no proof of this tho Derek seems to have a lot of offers including a show he is doing with Julianne which he could why he is talking to the bbc.

You are right about Julianne.As for Julianne's celebs she never got truly bad celebs and her worst would equal the same quality of dancer as Derek's worst celeb partner. Derek didn't always get the best dancers or amazing dancers but some will disagree with this. No-one knows what Derek's reaction would be if he got an Ann type dancer because he doesn't really get those types of celebs but no matter who Derek get unless she was absolutely awful some people would complain.

I agree that I don't like one pro dominating but I blame the producers not the pros. the thing is that James has never got a bad celeb but because he doesn't win it's not a problem the problem with Derek is that he does.

In strictly or dwts? I think it will depends if he is doing both shows and travelling - there are rumours they are changing the panel on dwts so he might not need a break.

As far as I know, Len is still a regular judge on both version : SCD and DWTS .
