I want to sell my new phone, its sealed still. I have a Iphone5 i am happy with my old phone. Would you sell it on Ebay or not ? I am not sure how safe selling a phone is ?

I would check the CeX website and they will tell you how much the offer for it also try the recycling sites but usually CeX is normally the cheapest and if you have a branch near you then you can take it in and get cash if you sell a phone on ebay and use paypal it may or may not be ok as sometimes the buyer reverses the payment even if it says ok to post and you're left with nothing so be careful.
Also with Paypal and ebay you have lots of fees so even though you might get more for selling it on ebay when you look into the risk factor and fees and hassle having to post and wrap it usually is just worth taking it to CeX.

CEX ARe suggesting they will pay £280 which is low , i would thought it be 380 at least. but ebay sounds like a risk, so i cant get my money if i do it on ebay
left with nothing sounds harsh, cant ebay give you cash if that happens ?

You could sell it on eBay and request that you will only accept cheque or postal order for payment but this may put some people off but it will still be possible and wait until the funds clear before posting the item though. You will still have to pay eBay fees though just not PayPal fees.

Thanks , do you mean Game as in the computer / xbox shop or just general games shops, i couldnt find anything on Game website, thanks for your help.
Be prepared to get quite a few messages of people asking you to post the phone straight away and them paying a few pounds extra (as it's not their own money), if you try to sell it on ebay.
I don't think you're allowed to not accept money on PayPal on Ebay any more are you? But I've sold several things, it's pretty safe.
There are other sites to sell on other than eBay. You could try Gumtree, or even just print out an ad for putting in local shops/ supermarket so people can ring about it..
If I read the post correctly, you already have an iPhone 5 and it's an new boxed phone you're selling. Presumably an in-demand smartphone? Not exactly specialist stuff - a huge potential market for one, so it shouldn't be hard to sell.
If you do choose eBay set the postal restrictions to and bidders to UK only (or make it collection only) and if it goes, make sure you charge enough for postage to cover a tracked service. Too many scammers out there, especially for this sort of product.

Avoid eBay. Buyers can chargeback using PayPal and you'll lose all your money. Cex or an online forum such as hotukdeals is a good place to sell. I always sell my phones on certain forums I frequent. Touch wood no issues,

Did have to pay about 40 quid in fees tho but still got about 340 for it

I have done this too before and transferred straight to my bank but what PayPal do if they chargeback they put your account overdrawn and then debt collectors eventually chase you.
The last thing I sold on PayPal I closed my account completely after transferring to my bank and will create one again if I really need to (not that this will protect me anymore than having it open still).
It's horrible that people can do this it should be the case that if you have proof of postage then you don't fall victim.
I sold a phone via Gumtree. You get the cash in your hand, the buyer should be willing to pay more as they can inspect the phone upfront.

I have put it on for 360 i am going to pull it off now though as to many horror stories and i will get wripped off. I took it to cash convertors and they said £300 but then they wouldnt buy it as need a receipt as they say i would block the phone after sold it!! Not sure why anyone would want to do that are you
I'd be curious as to how much you are paying for your contract offset against the money you get for the phone and a SIM only deal.
For example, my contract used to be £21.50 a month. I was happy with my phone when 2 years was up so just went to SIM only at £7 a month. So that's £14.50 x 24 saved = £348 when compared to upgrading and starting another 24 month agreement.
For high end contracts, the saving may be a lot higher and therefore the price you'd need to get for the unwanted phone would need to be higher to justify going down that route. For my £21.50 a month, I'd never have got an upgrade that would have sold for more than the saving I made going SIM only. If I get a new phone, it'll be SIM free at around the £300 mark and I'll stick on the SIM only plan.
I guess I'm fortunate that I can get by on a £7/month SIM as I don't make many calls and don't use much data when not on WiFi, so the 250MB limit is fine.
