Hi I'm new to tablets and currently looking at IPad 4, Looked at iOS 7 so that isn't a problem think it looks pretty decent. I have been told that the IPad 4 was the best tablet out at the moment because of the retina display in it. Also the apps are all made for tablets where as on equivalent Android apps are just blown up versions of the phone apps.

Curious if this was true or not.

I'll give you a more helpful reply!

The iPad 4 is in my opinion is one of the best tablets available now but it is very expensive. It's closest rival is the Nexus 10 made by Samsung which uses Android and is meant to have an excellent screen that's even higher resolution that the iPad 4 screen which itself is excellent and very bright and clear.

It is true that there are more tablet specific apps available for the iPad at the moment but there are many, many available now for Android Tablets and Google are also pushing developers to launch more of them.

Some apps on the Android are blown up phone apps but that does not always make them bad - and most decent developers are launching more tablets specific apps these days.

Best thing to do is to take a look at them in a shop if you can and looks for yourself and have a play with them.

I have an iPad 3 and I love it. Yes, they are expensive, but I use mine for hours every day. Beautifully made.

Check my other posts to verify I'm not a mindless Apple fan!

The Met Office app for my iPad, is actually an iPhone app displayed at X2. But still, one of my favourite apps which I use every day.

Thank you both of you for your replies. I'm not a major apple fan myself I could of got an iPhone 5 but went for HTC one had a iPod in past. I did consider the nexus 10 but for some reason Ive started to hate stock android not as much as I hate touchwiz though. I'm just currently looking at skygo app and it looks like it is far better on iPad. I think I going look at apps for both os and decide based on that. Is the battery life on the nexus 10 as good as iPad as have been told you get about 10-11 hours of solid use on iPad.

I not looking for something to replace a laptop though some of the high end tablets look like they can. Just looking for a powerful one which has best ecosystem and that seems be iPad at moment.

I don't know about the Nexus 10s battery life but I can confirm the iPad 4s is very good as my wife has one and it seems to sip battery...I've a Nexus 7 that gorges on it! LOL

Just had a look for the Nexus 10 and battery life is maybe slightly less than the iPad 4 but I think both would last plenty of time of the mains lead.

Thanks for confirmation I appreciate. I did look at the seven inch ones but decided I want a full size one as they are still portable but more versatile and at least on iPad being high quality.

Yes, the battery life is extraordinary, although it does take a while to charge. This is not a problem as you can just recharge it overnight.

Not all the apps are ipad specific: someone's already mentioned that the Met Office weather app (excellent app BTW) is just a blown up version of the iphone app. Same applies to the AA pub guide and virgin TV guide. Bound to be lots of others as well.

I've been very pleased with my ipad4 but it is the first tablet I've owned. Not an apple fanboy either as I have an Android smartphone that I'm very happy with.

The nexus 10 has been a surprising flop given the spec/price combo.

I've heard that it can still drop frames and the screen doesn't display photos as crisply as the iPad ( with the caveat that I haven't myself seen an actual comparison even though I keep asking a work colleague to bring in their Nexus 10 )

At the moment the android experience I would say is geared toward smartphone and smaller tablets.

Google are bringing out tools which may make it easier to develop apps that work specifically for tablets.

I'm stunned and shocked you don't have one already enapace,

Its a big iPod, gauge it from there.
Plus, with your knowledge of Android you should know all the sacrifices you need to make as well as the positive gains.
