Balsamic/red/white wine vinegar, ground pepper and a little salt!
(once you're bored of that try lemon, mayo and salt, or honey, mustard, mayo, salt - If using mayo mix in acid slowly or it'll curdle.)

A nice dressing that I have with my steak salad is
Soy sauce, balsamic venegar, sweet chilli sauce, hot sauce, olive oil. I have it with rocket salad (or rocket, watercress & baby spinach), cherry tomatoes and red onions. |

I buy small jars of quite hot chilis from the supermarket and sometimes add one in cut into tiny bits, just adds that bit something extra. If i am not in a hot mood i normally add in spring onion, again cut into very small pieces.

Depending on what you having with it, I like to add something with a bit of crunch. Sesame seeds, chopped cashew or walnuts, even a handful of puy lentils add good texture.
