You can from Krispie Kreme but early on in the day.

Why not make your own?

That's the thing isn't it, you've got no chance with your bog standard supermarket doughnut nowadays.

I'm not sure what they do to them, but they always seem to be extremely stale.

Krispie Kreme costs a bomb though and I'm not sure they're 'proper doughnuts'.

I've thought about buying my own doughnut making machine, though fear what it might do to my weight. : )

They are disgusting. Nothing like a proper fresh doughnut.

They are proper donuts, they just have a variety of fillings/glazes.

My favourite donuts are ring donuts, dipped in sugar and eaten whilst still warm.

Technically, yes. In the traditional, British, bakery doughnut sense (which I imagine is what the OP is talking about), I wouldn't consider them in the same bracket.

Last year I went to Felixstowe to walk along the beach and bought a bag of 6 hot doughnuts. God, they bearly touched the sides. They were the food of the gods and I could have eaten 20 of them !!!

Yep, each to their own. A client bought a huge box in once, they ended up in the bin.

Strange chemical artificial taste.

There used to a chain of outlets called Dunkin' Donuts.......

I remember one that stayed open all night at Ludgate Circus, london.............to cater for the night workers on Fleet Street

I always think of a 'proper doughnut' as being one that's deep fried and a 'not proper' doughnut is one that's baked (in my view that's a cake, not a doughnut)

Was at Thorpe Park the other week and as you're walking around they have doughnut stalls and it smells delicious.
