What an amazing song!

Why the heck is it flopping, he's in Take that they are mega popular surely that must help?

Low views on youtube, single/album poor in charts.

Flipping heck.

Mark Owen on Twitter 44,000 followers
Gary Barlow on Twitter 2,800,000 followers
Robbie Williams on Twitter 1,900,000 followers
Howard Donald on Twitter 58,000 followers
Jason Orange not on twitter but fan account 5,800 followers

So the success of Take that is mainly due to gary and robbie? wow.

I always thought that was obvious myself. Those three are clearly there for their looks.

Mark Owen is clearly the weakest singer in the band so this could be it. I mean, this would also happen if Nicky from Westlife or Louis from One direction released an album I know it isn't all about the voice, but you still need to be good in order to appeal the non-Take That fans.

Not bad. The production is good on it because his voice isn't as annoyingly nasal as it usually sounds! Catchy song. I've never been much of a fan (mainly because I don't like his voice) but I haven't minded some of his solo songs in the past. 4 Minute Warning is a really good song.

The popularity of individual members is always going up and down during stages of groups, in the 90's it was mainly Mark and Robbie who got most of the attention now it seems it's Gary, Robbie and Jason.

Boybands are always stronger and more popular as a collective unit rather than as individuals. The fascination when they split is because realistically only one member will have an amazing solo career. So it became a joust between Gary and Robbie total opposites which fuelled the media. Same as Ronan and Steven from Boyzone, Justin and JC (who is by far the best singer in NSYNC), the 3 members of Blue but Simon Webbe sold most but still not amazingly.

Mark has always been on the outside of all that right from his first solo album he has gone in an alternative indie direction very different to TT and Robbie/Gary solo.

To his credit he has learnt about songwriting and musicianship instead of just playing the part of teen idol and taking all the money and has released the albums he's wanted to despite limited success because he loves music. He always made a point from the first album his albums are a different audience to TT and he's doing promotion because he's still an artist despite his amazing success with TT and wants those persons who like what he does to know a new Mark Owen record is out. For his efforts he's gathered a small fanbase of his own due to his much different style to Take That he knows he won't sell loads but that's not the point for him.

In Take That he's had two European hit singles in Babe and Shine on lead vocals and his first solo single Child went top ten across Europe and #1 in Spain and 3 top 5 UK solo singles so for a solo career in some respects he hasn't done too badly.

This album will perform the same as the other Mark Owen albums that was always going to be the case. However I will agree the single is great and think that should be doing better.

I think it was hoped that since the insane popularity of Progress and Progress Live he might have some success with this on the back of TT. His last album was released before Take That reformed so the comparison should have been hugely different - i'm really stunned really, Take That is a ridiculously huge group now and that tour had a ridiculous amount of people coming, i would have thought he could have benefited from that. That's why Polydors taken him on.

The shocker is
The video and single is better than anything he's done before.
It's his best artwork for a campaign too
Album title is amazing!

It's all about Barlow now.

Because 'Mark Owen' released it. He never managed to establish himself as a solo act and given he's part to play in Take That isn't that big he would have a tough time, with he's age, and in this current time to score a hit.

Do you think people may have gone off him as a person because certain revelations about his infidelities, etc, might have put people of buying his stuff generally? As part of Take That people are fans of the group and their music as a whole, but solo, maybe he's just not that popular anymore as a person. Who knows, just guessing?

I do like the song, it's one of the best he's done and, like I said earlier, I think his voice sounds better on it then on many songs in the past.

Can't stand his voice. Would love 'Shine' were it not for his vocals.

He was a guest on Radio 2 last week and he seemed really thick - or maybe slightly drunk. Either way he came across as rather obnoxious.

saw him on tv... thought it was embarrassing. the songs rubbish, his performance was rubbish, its flopping because its rubbish, or is seen as rubbish by the great record buying public.

In a very selfish way...

I want Mark back. The Mark who I saw on tour with HTMF, excellent songs and small venues. The new album is every bit as amazing as HTMF and Stars is great, but I think he aimed a bit too big with venues and hopes for the record.

The big post above is right, he has a loyal fanbase who will buy his music and attend his gigs and he will always have a career if thats what he wants.

But putting it out there in the way he has is just asking for disappointment, as some people will never like him or his voice.

I picked the album up in HMV and wandered round the store with it, they were playing it in store and I found each track sounded fairly similar so I placed it back and bought the last Estelle album 'All Of Me' which is a great album.

It's a shame it's not doing well, if you listen to his new album you can see he was the main influence on Take That's Progress album. Very similar sounds. Mark has always been a great little songwriter, but unfortunately unless you put the Take That name to it, it never seems to do very well.
I'm off to see Mark tonight & can't wait

According to the radio AirPlay chart , it is getting lots of plays , but I have not heard it once on radio and it's certainly not selling on I tunes .
