What was the point of that tiny little boat?

The boat was so tiny it looked daft and unstable. Why would anyone want it? It was hilarious that Natalie thought the seat was to put champagne and strawberries on.

Its making use of otherwise dead space, its a very good idea. And was highly praised on the "Dragons Den" (can't remember if it got an investment). It's just for messing about on lakes etc, not to be used as a serious boat.

I'm with the OP, you would have to empty the entire roof box to use it, the inside would get wet and you'd then have to dry it before putting it back on as a lid, and was it actually big enough for two people to sit in?

It looked like a death trap to me.

But don't you empty the box when you arrive at your destination? It's just an added extra that doesn't significantly increase the value of the product.

Didn't need to be for adults, presumably teenagers or older grandchildren would love to mess about in a boat. Tipping it upside down would soon dry it or use a towel to mop it up.

It definitely looked VERY unsafe. If you wanted a boat you'd buy a boat.

I can't disagree that it looked like a pretty rubbish boat but you always see those cheapo rubber boats of similar size at seaside towns etc so there's clearly a 'crap boat' market out there somewhere!

It looked too small for more than one adult to use, so ideal for a solo picnic. Maybe an adult and a child or two children could use it. It's more of a novelty thing. A way to claim a roof box was "multi-purpose". However, when people are willing to part with £945 on impulse for an electric bike to go with their caravan rational thinking seems to take a back seat.

The roof box had a multiplicity of uses with some imagination.

A bag of sand would convert the boat into a sandpit for toddlers, some water in it a paddling pool or use it on grass as extra seating.

The bikes didn’t seem popular with cyclists but a discount for two bikes as Natalie asked for might have been a lever for an interested couple unless an unseen tandem was selling well on another stand.

Don't you sometimes need to use a dingy to get to a boat moored off shore? Some times even in harbours boats aren't directly moored to a gangway.
Other than that it did look good for kids to muck about in.

Remember this episode when freeloading pensioners, who enjoyed high employment, low living costs, cheap property, wage growth, stable banks and savings accounts, and jobs for life, start whining about 'only' getting a pension rise of 2.5%

If they can afford to pay £600 for a big plastic box, they don't need to sponge off my taxes.
