Sorry if this has been posted already but I couldn't see it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDRRLreyXyQ

Jack Tretton Sony CEO announcement.

Wont need online connection to play single player game
Wont need to call in every hour hwen playing on a friends console.
Wont stop playing if you haven't authenticated every 24 hour

The PS4 wont impose any restrictions on the playing of second hand games
When a person buys a PS4 game they can,
Trade it in at retail
Lend it to their friends,
Sell it on to another person
Keep it forever.

No mention here if Sony intend to watch and monitor you on the sofa, but I feel a lot better knowing that there will be an alternative for any body objecting to the corporate butt stuffing that is coming our way.
I never thought that I would be looking at a PlayStation as I have always been more than happy with my Xbox, but with the restrictions on the Xbone combined with the fact that I cant play my extensive library of games on it, means tha it is a natural cut off point.
It may be time to make a stand.

Not sure if you meant to post in the Playstation forum instead or just trolling.

No PO. I wish I was. That would mean I was a PS owner gloating. Instead I am an Xbox owner gutted at the way things have panned out.
If its not too late and Xbox were able to listen to us and back paddle on the restrictions I would be more than happy to stick with it. I am 53 years old and have had Xbox's since day one.
I don't engage in fanboy crap, I have played on my newphews Playstation and though not to my taste I thought it was a perfectly good console and something that I could easily get used to if I had to. Believe me I don't want to.
But this shit is just too much.
Going forward we have to buy a new console if we want to continue playing the latest games. If I could have played my old games on the one I may (almost) have convinced myself that I could bite the bullet and roll over, but the fact that you cant means it is a natural breakpoint for me.
Has the Tretton video announcement already been posted?
If it has I apologise.

He also went on to point of this was first party and 3rd party can do want they want. A return of the online pass is the least you should expect.

Nope. PS4 does not come with a camera by default and it will not need to be connected at all times if you choose to buy a PS Eye at a later date.

No, they can't. The only DRM third party can implement is serverside, so that's online.

This was clarified buy somebody at Sony (I forget his name) after the confusing interview from Tretton.

Well of course, but they can do an awful lots server side. Online passes that we are used to but - if they really wanted - single player pass or tied to accounts on their own servers. I am not saying they will but if they wanted to sony could not - and likely would not - stop them.

At the moment MS is all pro-publisher and Sony is all pro-consumer. MS will want something in return. They are getting hammered at the moment.

Exactly. Majority of people are pro PS4 and so that's where the vast majority of sales will be. MS can be as pro developer as much as they want but if they haven't got the user base to sell the games too then
it's pretty pointless.

I think Sony and Codemasters are the only others still using them aren't they?

Sony said that they're dropping them so just leaves Codemasters.

Why.
I am hacked off at the way MS were treating us.
I was waiting to see if Sony went down the same road as Xbox and saw the vid. Nobody had posted it to my knowledge so I posted it.
I play the xbox but I have to do what? go on the play station forum to discuss the one and what ps4 are saying in response.
I know things are all over the place and lots of people are feeling sore about this but we're not allowed to discuss it?
Burying your head in the sand wont help.

To be honest man you can't be surprised people are upset with the new Xbox. It's not exactly the most consumer friendly box out there is it.

with all these that xbox are doing, how many xbox fans will switch? or how many xbox only gamer/fanboy will make the switch? People keep saying xbox will get beaten, but seriously would they really lose this new generation war? I doubt it

No. Sony have said they are not going to allow online passes. The reason being, they are charging now for online play, and they don't want publishers charge again for the same thing.

See Gamasutra.

Interesting. Mixed messaging between one saying "will not allow" and another (Tretton) saying 3rd party pubs can decide for themselves.

Because it upsets 2D when anyone says anything negative about MS.

To be fair it didn't really belong in the Xbox forum.
