Samsung Galaxy S4 native email app issue
I am trying to sort out an issue with a colleagues Samsung Galaxy S4. When they are typing an email (in the native app) the cursor every now and again jumps up to the middle of a sentence, so they have to shift it all around.
I previously restored the phone, I wasn't surprised that didn't work. Is this an issue with a lot of phones and we are waiting for a fix from Android? Or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks!! |

sounds like there like an issue with the touch screen. don't think it's an email things.
i'd download a touchscreen app like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...santosapps.mtw and check that there is nothing afoot. if they've gobbed on the screen or have greasy hands that could do it. just locking and unlocking seems to recalibrate. |

I have just installed a new keyboard (Google) and it is still happening, so it is not the screen or the keyboard. |

this sounds clearly like a touchscreen issue.
whether the OP wants to take the advice is up to them. |

Its not a touchscreen issue.
The OP stated it happens in the stock browser... he didnt say that it happens anywhere else? Anyway, I had the same issue while using Swiftkey keyboard.... it would jump back to the first line after I had typed a few words. I thought it was Swiftkey, so changed back to stock keyboard and it still did it. It seems though that stock keyboard is based on Swiftkey and so thats why it happens with both keyboards. Swiftkey have since updated the keyboard and the issue is fixed. So, you have two options. 1. Install the latest version of Swiftkey. Which, to be fair is probably the best keyboard and most populay out there. 2. Install a 3rd party email client. This problem has been reported a few times on XDA and Android Central. This is 99.9% the cause. |
