I'll be watching. It looks really interesting - it's been advertised for the past few weeks.

Reading the article, the comments at the bottom seem very similar to anti-cat posts made by some users on this forum. Some people really do seem to passionately hate cats. I think I'm very lucky to have been born into a cat-loving family and, thankfully, I don't meet too many cat haters in real life - or at least they reserve their feelings in public if not on the anonymous internet.

The article states that 50 cats were filmed and there were only 20 kills between them over the course of filming (a week?) in a leafy Surrey village. Perhaps this is proof that cats' killing habits are a touch exaggerated/over-estimated? Also, it is reassuring that the average distance travelled was around 50 metres. Cats don't roam for miles - unless they get lost - and are generally less than 5 houses away from home.

How secret is:
Get up, eat, lie down for a bit, feel tired after lying down, so move and find somewhere to sleep. Wake up, eat, sleep, wake up, play for 2 minutes, groom, sleep.

I have set the recorder so will be watching. Actually mine changed routine today. She added shouting at me for a while until I understood that the wind had blown a door shut and she couldn't get to her current favourite sleeping place.

Is it the one done by Sarah Ellis of Lincoln? She's THE cat woman and one of the reasons I seriously considered the Lincoln course.

We've just been watching this. Very interesting. Angel and Zebedee were both in the room and were quite freaked out by the sounds of the cats fighting. Zebedee soon lost interest but Angel noticed the cats on the tv. She positioned herself on a footstool close to the tv and watched intently for the rest of the programme.

I'm pleased that we've installed a microchip catflap.

I was really looking forward to this, but hugely disappointed. Their conclusions were nothing more than any cat owner/lover could already tell you. As a statistician I thought they did very little with the data they'd collected.

The one thing that did fascinate me is that cats can run 31 mph. Wow! I was also quite surprised (especially for a village location) that they didn't travel further from home.

One thing that disturbed me about the programme was the size of the cats! The average weight is 4kg ... not one of them was under 5kg.

Something they didn't find is that cats make friends with other cats. One of my boys used to be best friends with the girl cat next door. She used to come round and sit by the back door looking in waiting for him to come out and play! lol It was so cute.

I agree. I too didn't really learn anything I hadn't already picked up through being owned. It was fascinating how the 50 cats sorted their territories out, but it would have been more interesting if we could have seen more of that rather than coloured scribble on a map.

I agree about not really learning anything if you have, or have ever, had a cat.

I also thought it was strange how there was no mention of the difference in behaviour of male and female,
neutered and unneutered or the age of the cats,
i.e. older cats being more inclined to stay at home and sleep.
Also comparing those from homes with no one there all day, to having people who are mostly in all day.

So many relevant aspects IMO left out.
