My kids have bought me a football DVD, its quite rare on account of me supporting a lower league team. Is there any way I can make a back up of it, just in case I wreck it like I do with most of my DVDs?

I know I have a DVD RW in my PC.

You could download a trial of AnyDvd from SlySoft or another make of software, there are probably lots of other ones that will do the same job.

Once you install it, it will allow you to rip the dvd to your hard drive as an exact image, if the image will fit on a single layer dvd just burn a back up onto a blank dvd.

If its a duel layer disk (anything above 4.5gb) then you'll need to shrink it down if you want it backed up on a blank dvd, again lots of programs can do this.

Freemake Video Converter is a free and simple one to use and it's one which can convert to different formats including dvd as well as others (e.g. if you want a copy on your phone or ipad, it can do that)
Handbrake is another one but a little more complicated to use.

Once the image is ripped and a back up burned, I tend to leave the image on a spare hard drive as it's always handy to have as a back up.
