At around 1pm today my HTC One X froze and then turned off and then wouldn't turn on again so I took it to Carphone Warehouse and they had a look and then they told me to go to Dog'n'Bone (a phone repair shop).

So I went there and the guy said it was the second One X with the same problem they'd had in today. Another man decided to HBoot and restored factory settings but it still wouldn't turn on so he told me to take it home and see how it goes. I took it back to college and kept pressing the on button but it never got past the HTC logo and then suddenly I got the homescreen but it kept freezing and turning off until around 6pm when it went back to normal, without all my music, images and apps which I'll have to download again.

It seems perfectly fine now but has anyone else had this problem?

Just google HTC One X issues and you'll see that the HTC One X was possibly the most fault prone mobile last year.

So yeh, i can imagine everyone has experienced it before with that phone.

Did you buy the handset from CPW?

And where did they tell you to take it?

The OP said they told him to take it to the Dog n' Bone

That was the actual name of the place he was told to take it?

Did they say why you should take it there?
The handset is less than 2 years old, it's still under warranty - or is there a reason why it wouldn't be covered by the warranty any more?

That's the place.

It seems completely fine now although I had all music and photos on there that I forgot to back up

I didn't buy it from Carphone Warehouse, I didn't know where to go first so I decided to go there to see what they thought was wrong.

Hmm, I still find that weird.
Even if you didn't buy from CPW, for them to advise you to seek help from a store that would void your warranty is very questionable.

Well at 1am the phone stopped working again. Took it to another repair shop and they didn't know what to do.

Looks like I've got no phone for a bit and I don't like contracts. I feel that the current Pay As You Go plan on 3 I use is perfect so I don't wish to get a contract phone.

If it was second hand then it wouldn't matter about the warranty. I honestly can't imagine getting any sensible advice from a place like CPW or a carrier store other than to take it to somewhere that the staff know their arise from their elbow.

Op have a look on xda forums and see if there is is a fix.

That's true but since the OP has made no reference to the handset being second-hand, I struggle to see the relevance.

A suggestion as to why CPW sent them elsewhere.

To be fair the op didn't say if the phone was new or 2nd hand.

I got it 'Like New' from Amazon last August and have had no issues other than poor battery and overheating until now.

Even though it's second hand and I've had it for nearly a year it still looks new, not one scratch or blemish so I don't think I could've damaged it in anyway.

And accurate in retrospect - a doff of the hat sir.

So I think the issue is being caused by the sim. Is this possible?

Last night the phone stopped working for the 1000th time and was still dead today. I took the sim out to put in an old phone and then the one x came back on and is working.

Do i get a new sim?
