Spoiler
I actually thought that Erin was OK overall. I think she was a decent PM on the Dove task, for example (It was just that they went with an atrocious idea) whilst in general she was intelligent and canny, but my God, I 100% agree she deserved to go in Home Depot week. She was so hateable in that episode. I agree that she should have been fired, but Trump should have seen that she deserved to get fired without George and Carolyn having to beat him round the head with it. That she only got fired because of the wink was ridiculous.

Me too, but I only made that point because a) I don't think George likes changes in shows for the sake of changes and b) it made the difficult task of getting to know 18 people even harder due to the lack of same-sex teams.

It suits it because it suits the dramatic nature of US television. Having grown up with British Tele, I think I just don't personally like how America always over-dramatises things, but I think that's just personal preference, tbh.

Spoiler
Kendra Todd <3 <3 <3. Genuinely one of the most competent and intelligent candidates I've ever seen. She pretty well guided Magna to their nine task winning streak by herself and the way she dominated marketing was unlike anything I've ever seen before. Apart from Ruth and sales, I can't recall an occasion where a candidate dominated one skillset so thoroughly as Kendra dominated marketing. One of the most deserved and satisfying winners in Reality TV, IMO. I also loved Angie that season, hence why I hated her firing so much.

Spoiler
Oh Yeah, Season 4 has a coven as well called the Bloven (Cos they were all Blonde haha). Season 2 wasn't horrendous; he just fired all the likeable candidates before the end so we were left with two unlikeable candidates in the final, which wasn't helped by being stretched out to three hours, making it an absolute chore to get through (The way Jen M's bitching came back to bite her was hella funny though, as was how Tana overusing her exception did in Season 3) In addition, the worst members of the coven (Ivana, Maria and Sandy) lasted waaaay too long, particularly Ivana, my least favourite US candidate ever. Season 3 was fun and had a great cast, but it was hit by Chris and Alex getting so far and a few candidates (Bren, Angie and John) getting fired before their time. I just loved it so much because of the winner! Season 1 was great and not least because the Final 5 were all fantastic. If Troy had made the final in place of Kwame, I think it would have been a perfect season.

Yeah, having seen the first celebrity series, I do like Don Jr and Ivana, but they are nothing on George and Carolyn.

Mantray0 has all of the episodes on YT, which is how I first watched the first three seasons. I must say the US intro is one of the things I LOVE about the American version. The music, the candidates; it's just so classy. It's one thing I'd have in the UK version (Although that would mean no Intro clips for the Spoiler thread to analyse )

The problem with The Apprentice : Martha Stewart (amongst other things) is that NBC made the truly baffling decision to air it at the same time as a series of The Apprentice : Donald Trump (Series 4). I guess the heavy female focus and gimmick changes were an attempt to make it feel distinct, but they were always onto a loser.

It also didn't appear to be a problem when he invited Dennis Rodman, who has multiple DUIs and a record of domestic violence driven by drink back for All-Stars... Honestly I've tried with Celebrity Apprentice but I find it unbearable. I can find something to appreciate in most of the civilian series, even "10" (unpopular opinion : I adore Series 6. It's such an awful trainwreck that it actually becomes hilarious. I think about halfway through it becomes obvious that the production team just threw their hands up in the air and gave up) but the bloviating of the nothingy celebrities on top of Trump's already outrageous narcissism are too much for me to stomach.

The American version did air on the BBC (at least the first four "normal" editions and at least one celeb version), but most of them were aired late at night (even later for me, as I'm one hour ahead).

Season 1 at least did air earlier, think somewhere between 6 and 8 (British time).

In terms of music, I liked the pre-boardroom music (the skyline and then the candidates in the waiting room; same goes for the UK version) and also the music at the end.

What people should also know (who haven't seen the American version yet) is that there is much more shown from the interactions between the candidates within the house/loft. So, not only at the start or at the end of the episode, but also mid-task (and I don't mean only the unwrapping of some product they have designed; that gets delivered at their doorstep).

Do agree with Monkseal though, not at all interested in the celeb versions (strangely enough, as I did like the comic relief specials). Which is kinda odd, as I do watch Strictly and also the Dutch version of The Mole (which is already running for ten years with celebs, after 4 years with people from the street; which I only got into when they started with celebs).

I'm not that big on celebrity specials. I don't watch Celebrity Big Brother, and I probably wouldn't watch a celebrity edition of this if there was one, though I'd give it a try. Strangely enough though, I did really enjoy Celebrity MasterChef this year (it was the first MasterChef of any incarnation that I'd watched). I think it's that I like contestants that take things seriously, and celebrity editions seem to involve more joking around, which isn't really my thing. MasterChef is different in that regard, as the celebrities seem as passionate about doing well as civilians (well, this year's bunch did anyway).

Martha's season definitely had it's moments, and making it more female oriented was somewhat logical as that's the type of business she operates in herself. But I agree that it just didn't work in the end. Martha not saying "You're fired" to the candidates wasn't her fault though, because Trump trademarked that catchphrase in the US. Noone else is allowed to use it in the same way.

How many ways are there of saying 'You're fired'?

What I really meant was that those words can't be used in the same context by anyone else, i.e. when getting rid of someone in a TV show like that. I'm not sure of how far that trademark applies, I guess he can't deny other people from using it on television on a general basis.

The same expression has been used in virtually every Apprentice format in the world.

The first season aired 6pm in the UK, before, i think it was daily episodes..

Problem with the US version, most of the tasks feel like they're product placements, also some strange firings not based on the failure of the task, but either too loyal or disloyal, then firing a candidate for trying to flirt with him., he fired one candidate for calling themselves White trash

As stated in my first post, I was only talking about the US.

I only saw the celeb version with Piers Morgan, I quite liked it and preferred Ivanca Trump to KB.
