Looking to get some headphones, mainly for single player at night. Want a decent pair at a reasonable price, sub 100, they don't need to be full 5.1 but give a good field of sound, and good quality sound with no crackling or other problems.

Any suggestions welcome, I'll go for the pair that seem most popular.

I have these.
just depends if you want wireless or wired, xbox and or ps compatible. Might be worth looking on youtube for reviews on different headphones (tritton and turtle beach seem the most popular for console gaming)
Mine are quite comfortable and have good sound with a range of presets depending on the game you play. I paid 90ish for mine off the hut or somewhere, so have a look around.

I don't have any need to use them myself, but by all accounts the official Sony ones are good, and good value at less than 100:

and if you want to go for the slightly older (and uglier) version, they're even cheaper:

I can't see anything that reviews as well for similar prices as either of these.

The next best is probably something like this:

Which is a few more .

I looked at these before christmas, the thing that put me off was compatibility with other stuff, like ps4 support? what if the new xbox was better (lol) and i wanted one of those, then i'd of ended up with headphones i could only use on ps3 and the computer..

A fair point, and Sony have been asked about PS4 compatability and haven't been able to give a positive reply yet.

Certainly the PX5 and XP500 are more flexible and customisable in terms of settings, but the Pulse look better (to me, beauty is in the eye of the beholder though) and without the wireless base-station are a more streamlined option, if you don't plan on getting an Xbone.

Gone for the Sony jobbies, compatibility with the PS4 is an issue but I'll cross that bridge if indeed it needs crossing.

As for the X1, I've got no more to say on the subject except I won't be buying 1 until at least 6 months after launch if at all, its all looking very dodgy to me. It's funny tho, right up until E3 I was set on buying the X1.

Anyway, Sony Pulse is on its way from GAME, with a copy of THE LAST OF US guide book

Being using these the last few days and I got to say they are very good.

I don't reckon much to the bassimpact, which provides a deep uncomfortable vibration which I don't really like, but that's easily switched off.

Just hoping they work with the PS4, fingers crossed.

I have the older, uglier version mentioned above! I find them really good, comfortable with good battery life. The sound quality and microphone is excellent. Recommended, although I would go for the Pulse headset if I was buying now (I like the sound(!) of the individual sound profiles for specific games etc.)

I have the Turtle Beach PX5's. Very impressive earphones. Also love the way you can pair them to my iphone/mac.
