I'm curious, after reading everything and heard the outcry from the Internet you would think MS have ruined console gaming forever. But if you really look at it, there are only two main issues as far as I can see.

1) The console has to connect once every 24 hours
2) You can't easily lend a disc to a friend

Is there anything else?

If you look at point one, how many people is it honestly going to affect on here? I mean really, the scenarios some people have come up with are so far fetched. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a Internet connection at home apart from when moving house, and in that case playing a game is the last thing on my mind.

If your net connection really does go down for over 24 hours then I'm sure you can easily tether your smartphone to the console to quickly to the authentication. I mean really, the people moaning about it on here, using their Internet connections I'm sure it will only affect 0.01% of people.

As for the second point, yeah it's a pain but the whole sharing your games library remotely sounds so much better. No more having to worry about who has what game and in what condition it will come back in. Instead just add your friend to your "family list" and they can pick any game you own and you can play it too at the same time it seems.

Have I honestly missed some massive point that has caused the Internet to have a collective moan at MS? Or is it a case of people moaning for the sake of having a moan?

Always on camera annoys a lot of people.

Long time Xbox supporters (not talking about you two, i mean worldwide, so get your finger away from that alert) are broken hearted and jumping ship. That tells me this is more than just someone having a moan for the sake of it.

This whole deal is probably keeping people awake at night.

I thought the camera wasn't always on, that it could easily be disabled?

Aren't people jumping ship because they don't fully understand the issues? I mean on the main DS page each Xbox article is full of people misinformed. A lot of people are under the impression you can't trade games in anymore when you can,

A lot hate kinect and dont like that its forced and essentially you're paying for it into the bargain.

FOr me its ultimately price. 429 is just too much to stomach. 349 is bad enough. I was hoping for 299.

It sets a precedent.

Who know where they will take it, Pay to play ? Gamers are right to complain about it.

Complain about what exactly?

This is the big problem for me, it means I cannot do what I currently do with my console twice a year which is to take it to our family holiday home when I open and close it for the season.

The lending and used game situation is a worry as we don't really have full details yet on how its works and how much it costs.

Kinect been a mandatory accessory is also annoying as it just increases the cost of the machine with hardware I would rather have the option to add at a later date.

Do you not own a smartphone? I know it's a pain but a possible solution.

It would add an addition 1 per day cost to running the system. I use a prepaid phone and don't use mobile data.

Pain, yeah I can understand how it would affect you then. Must be in that 0.01%

How many publishers do you think given an option are going to allow the second hand market ? You may be able to trade in a game or to however a month maybe a few or even year or two down the line, at some stage you just know that one publisher will take take that one step and they all go and follow.

We could boycott that publisher. I know it wouldn't happen but many hands make light work.

Disabled in software. It can't be unplugged. Which means we have to trust that it truly is disabled. People are worried because of the PRISM stuff, and because of hackers. At best it's something we're having to pay for that we don't want.

But the same applies to the PS4, Sony can allow publishers to do the same so this isn't exclusive to MS. Which is one of the main complaints I've seen from people who are switching to the PS4 as they want to be able to trade games.

I know I am a minority case. But after the PSN hack the idea of the system stopping playing games without an internet connection is worrying, even if the reality is its highly unlikely to happen.

With regard to the Xbox 1 unless Sony really ballsed up and MS really played a blinder I was going PS4 anyway just because I like their exclusive franchises. The reason I am vocal on the subject with Xbox 1 is I don't want to see this requirement on PS4 (At least until I see some benefits to me)

Then put a sock over it.

What would happen if your console breaks (say new red ring) or your hard drive is corrupted. Every game you own you would have to re-download. Now in my 6 or so years with xbox I have had 4 360's. That is a lot of downloading. If you are tethered to your smartphone you are in trouble. Currently my smartphone plan is 1 gig a month. That means I could one game a year. Maybe two if I didnt use my smartphone much

Wouldn't you just put in each disc and install from that like you currently do?

I dont think anyone was suggesting downloading the games through your phone. It was for authentication only. However not all networks and plans allow tethering.

I was under the assumption, (I may be wrong) that once you instal from your disc once its useless. Hopefully I am wrong.

I know nobody wants to download through their phone. I was just using the scenario of somebody who does their daily checks through their phone. What would happen if they had to redownload their games.

I doubt its useless. Its just that the first time you put it in it ties the license to your XBLA account.

See I think this proves exactly the point I'm trying to make. People are under a lot of false impressions and MS have yet to clarify some things. But people are already declaring it a failure before we know the full story.

3 Issues for me are.

1. Mandatory Kinect, Paying extra for something I don't want, will never use & don't have any room for anyway (People seem to be ignoring how large Kinect 2 actually is).

2. Mandatory Game installs on a 500Gb HDD that you cannot upgrade.
I'd much rather just put a disc in & play without having to worry about HDD space & what I may need to uninstall etc... The install thing is a big part of why I buy most games on console instead of my PC (Only get driving games for PC because of the extra wheel options & shooters for Mouse/Keyboard controls).

3. All the DRM stuff.
I buy a fair few Pre-owned games because there's a small game shop 2mins down the road which only sells pre-owned.

The always online thing isn't so big an issue for me, Unless my internet goes down (Had no internet for 2 weeks a few yrs back due to a fault).

I didn't declare anything. I just gave a reasonable scenario. I can remember reading numerous articles after initial installation the discs are useless.
