Fantastic news, the amazing new album by rock veterans Black Sabbath has gone to the number 1 spot. Ozzy says the success of it has "knocked me off my feet".

Congratulations to the band. There are some people out there with taste after all!!!!

Not a big fan though saw them in 1980 and only knew Paranoid!!! But genuinely pleased for them and to see something different at the top. We need more of this stuff in the charts and therefore being played on the radio.

I was 17 when I got the paranoid album in 1970. Been a fan ever since. So pleased for them!!!
So many veterans in the albums chart top ten, Rod Stewart, Agnetha Falstog, Eagles...and Status quo at 10!...another of my fav bands.

Bloody brilliant album as well, not just your typical reunion album but one that unifies modern metal production values with classic Sabbath riffage. Love it, well deserved!

Think it was Iron Maiden in 2010, before that maybe Metallica in 2008?

Must be a Fathers Day thing.
Lots of 60-something ageing rockers buying the '13' album en masse.
Fairplay.

Looks like they are going to have their first US number one with the album.

QOTSA came close last week, their new album got to Number 2, some Dance-Electro band one hit wonders got the Top Spot.

Oh, good point. Fathers Day presents. Cool

There's usually just a right parcel of MOR shite released around Mothers Day

Is there still such a thing as a Number 1 album?

You don't mean Disclosure, do you? They who already have three hits

Congratulations to Black Sabbath! Nice to see variety in the charts. They're personally not my cup of tea, but I certainly wouldn't begrudge them any continued success - don't see why other acts should be disparaged in a similar way.

The Iron Man 2 soundtrack, an AC/DC greatest hits record, also got to number 1 in April 2010.

If you liked their classic 1970's period you'd probably enjoy it. It's not as good as any of their first 5 albums, but it maybe a bit unfair to compare them to it.

What a stupid question. The album that sells the most in a week will be number 1. How difficult can that concept be to understand?

I'm not a big Sabbath fan but I'm glad this record made no. 1.
Sabbath are an important Britsh rock band with a gret story and a lot of influence. I hope it is a sign of change a coming.
