Why did Jemima even say that in front of Gina?

I would have felt really awkward saying anything negative regarding people of her race if I was Jemima - mainly because of how easy the race card is to pull out and just how awkward it would be. Jemima was already pissed off with Gina and ready for an argument after Gina didn't want to wash up after everyone else, only herself. I wouldn't be surprised if Jemima said it to subtly insult Gina, not necessarily in a racist way, but just to wind her up.

Because she is nasty, she said earlier she wanted to get her.

Gina used it to try and get her up. Simple as that. The game is on her mind.

It was Gina who pressed Jemima about her preferences. She is entitled to her own personal preferences and Gina egged it up for drama and camera time.

Nope, I was asking why Jemima even said that. Wouldn't it be super awkward? I'd be able to anticipate how Gina might feel if I said that.

Perhaps Jemima sees people for themselves and not as a race, besides Gina isn't black

Why not? She didn't express a dislike of black people.

But she didn't say anything negative regarding people of their race.

Gina is black.

Also, Jemima does see people as a race lol! She excludes men based on their colour! I never do that - I don't see people as a race, I see them as people.

Totally agree with these posts! Gina asked her what was wrong with black people when she hadn't said anything was wrong with them, just expressed an opinion on the kind of men she fancies!

Gina is just looking for something to have an argument about and an excuse to insult people and their families! (Oh, and their shoes )

Gina is brown skinned, Jemima said she wouldn't go for black men, she said she found Daley ( brown skinned) attractive but he was too young
It's obvious she means very dark skinned black

I really think she is.

The OP poses an unexpectedly interesting question. Jemima was of course talking to Michael not Gina, but knew that Gina was listening. I don't think many people would state that they wouldn't date a black man, a) to someone they barely knew; and b) in the presence of a black woman. And when Gina asked "Why wouldn't you date a black man" it really was time to extricate herself gracefully from a possible hole, not to dig it 1000 times deeper by suggesting that of course a black woman would never (should never?) date a white man.

1. She dislikes Gina and said what she knew would piss her off; or

2. She genuinely does believe, in spite of being 41, that black people always date black people and white people date white (or 'dark' white) people; or

3. She was being a tiny bit Emily, and trying to sound rather cool and edgy and "let's be brave about this and say the kind of thing that most people wouldn't say".

Gina is black, moleymo. She's black. She has ancestors from Africa or whatever thus making her black. Her skin may be "brown" (every black person's skin is brown anyway) but she is black.

I'd say she was brown skinned same as Daley who Jemima said she was attracted too but for his age

Nope, Jemima said she would go for Daley because he is mixed race, so half black. She didn't say she wouldn't go for a black-skinned man, she simply said black. Which Gina is...lol how are you denying this?

Well I don't think Jemima meant brown skinned because she emphasised dark dark, then said she found Daley attractive.

Well I think Jemima said she likes mixed race (half black) men but not (full) black. Gina is black, she looks fully black, awkwardness is possible.

But Daley has European features, so maybe it's features she's attracted to rather than colour?
