Absolutely, he is the best of the lot. He puts people at ease, and if tv land is to be believed can make a mean Old Fashioned. What more could you want in your barman.

Was it really necessary to use the words "For a gay couple"? Sounds like a bit of a put down of gay people generally!

Not really, gay couples on First Dates are notoriously over the top and camp...think of the most glittery, sparkly, effeminate bloke you could meet and that's usually what ends up on First Dates. I can only remember (other than Philip and Simon) one other gay couple I liked and that was Naomi and another girl...they were so lovely together and just two normal girls not living up to any form of stereotype. Being gay myself, I much prefer people who are just like everyone else in the street and do go out of their way to make it known they are gay. Stereotypes that every lesbian either looks like a porn star or 23 stone with a million tattoos and a short back and sides, or that a gay man is basically christmas shouldn't be played on as much as it is in this programme.

OK, it wasn't clear that you were only talking about the gay couples on the programme!

Oh my goodness, Jonas, what an arrogant ***t !!

Jonas was horrific wasn't he - I didn't even think he was that good looking! But Millie did right to come back and ask for Sam's number, I think they'd make quite the cute couple.

The lesbians were again quite stereotypical, I could tell as soon as they met they'd end up at least kissing....although the producers did well as they had everything in common!

Well the lesbo couple did more than just kissing, i.e. in the update they were shown as being together the next morning! I think that's a first on this programme. I thought they were both lovely and very well matched.

No thoughts on the geeky girl, forgotten her name, who hadn't had a boyfriend for years and her date?

Giddy bint and muscly arms bloke, meh, don't know what happened with them, don't care, she was too dappy for words.
Some people can do stupid and cute, she didn't have enough charm to carry it off IMO.

They seemed quite nice in their own way, not my sort of people, but nice none the less, which is what I really want out of first dates, nice people having a nice time.

I 'think' it's happened before with the two dancers, black bloke and white girl who seemed to exchange sexual innuendos for their whole date, they were still a couple 3 months after their first date episode went out, picture of the two of them in bed IIRC.

You know the geeky girl could quite easily have settled and thought 'you know what, nobody has called me beautiful in years, here's a guy showing me attention, I'm going to give him a second chance' but she went with her gut that there was someone out there more suited to her and for that I give her credit. She obviously has problems meeting people in the real world so it would be interesting to see her on another date, I think his personality on another body and she'd have been so happy!

I was convinced the old guy who was a tennis player from my club - he has our accent, so when I saw the courts at the end in the photo was a bit gutted. But it's the old people I have so little interest in.

But Jonas....ewwww even thinking about him now makes me cringe. I've got no idea where he thinks he was a good first date from because I watched it through my fingers!

The muscly arms guy was just as stupid as she was...she was just turning it on to try and be cute and thick and it totally didn't work. He loves himself, so does she...but they were just too boring to even be featured.

So, this week's episode was an interesting one. I was glad Marie the teacher had a much better date this time, she deserved it.

The DJ girl did seem so guarded and had such a barrier up around her. (You could tell just from how much she works out her arms!). Although I didn't blame her for not wanting to talk about her past relationship - I think talking about exes on a date is a real no-no. She said she wanted a nice guy, but time will tell if that is actually what she wants. It'd be good to see her come back on for another date and see how she was next time when she maybe let her guard down a bit.

I found the ex-rugby player guy really annoying.

The older pair seemed really sweet. I would have thought George/Ted would be in a lot of demand, given there's generally a lot more women of that age group knocking around than men. Janet seemed to have a real zest for life, so hopefully it'll work out for them.

The gay couple were both incredibly handsome. It was kind of surprising they were both single to begin with. Although they both did really need to up their flirting game - all that endless talk about what universities they went to and so on was pretty dull.

The DJ girl is the first contestant they have had for a while who I have been intrigued / attracted too. I hope she returns and we find out a little more about her.

She was very pretty but we have seen quite a few with her condition, i.e. being guarded from having been badly hurt in the past. However, you might mean something else that intrigues you.

Delighted for Marie and Adrian. Her clear delight when he said he wasn't worried about dating an older woman was wonderful.

Yes I was pleased too; they are a good match.

I quite liked Marie, she had a lot of charm, sort of person who makes you smile even when they're annoying.
She and her date seemed quite pleased with each other, so that was nice.

DJ woman as someone else said intriguing and attractive.
If I was her date I'd probably have been quite cheesed off in retrospect, he seemed to be on a hiding to nothing.
He seemed to be pedalling away furiously and she just wasn't in the right 'place', complete waste of time and money, it wasn't even that pleasant an evening.

From what the DJ woman said after the date, it transpired that she was 'testing the waters', i.e. knew that she wasn't quite ready but wanted to see how it went. Fair play but rather unfortunate for her date.

She should have insisted in going Dutch at least, pi$$ing his money up the wall as well as wasting his time.
It's not cheap that place either.

While I can understand her fears, I also found her reasoning (i.e. testing the waters) rather self-centred as if somehow her date is only there to service her insecurities and pave the way for her. He too had reasons for coming on the show - not least to see if his date would be the right person for him. But none of that seemed to register with her. It's not like this is the first ever series where you aren't sure what to expect. Most people on the show come with all sorts of painful stories which have made them quite reticent when it comes to dating/having an intimate relationship.

If you realise quite early on that the date isn't going to work out for you, at the very least you try to not make the other person feel even more like s**t in an already nerving situation. Or at the very, very least, you offer what you've suggest, PM: go halves. It's just plain decent courtsey.

I also thought the DJ girl came across quite badly when her date walked in - she clearly looked like she rolled her eyes and muttered something when she saw him, which seemed a bit nasty.

The gorgeous girl with the dead eyes and the ear-damaging voice is back: "Octopus - can you eat that?" "Octopus is a mammal. They've got like 12 legs". "Tadpoles either turn into frogs or fish". And she has 12 GCSEs - mostly Bs. HOW?!

Another clueless couple - one had never heard of Dartford and his date had never heard of Hampshire.

What is going on?

I thought the country guy who had never dated, Charlie, was very relaxed considering it was his first time! Good for him that he secured a 2nd date!

I think this is the second time that we have seen an elderly couple whereby the woman was too lively for the man! Is this a pattern I wonder? Or do lively older men prefer a younger woman?
