Well CeCe, or whatever her name is, is even less knowledgeable than he is. The waiter is clearly very young so not sure what exactly it is you expect him to 'know'...

Kevin is getting a lot of positive feedback on the First Dates Facebook page. He does have that twinkle in his eyes, and is very attractive

Well he was certainly hard work. Shame they couldn't find some common ground or just found how to make each other laugh....often breaks the ice.

I think they both came from Manchester and exclaimed how odd it was that they didn't know each other. I would have thought it is a big city with many gay venues there - no?

At the end - in the update bit - it was nice to learn that the tailor, Riki had contacted Queenie (after she said there was no chemistry) and managed to go out with her! From what he said, it seems that she did him a big favour in letting him know that he needs to be more confident....although I would have thought he would realise this anyway!

He was a arsehole with a huge chip on his shoulder.

Felt sorry for the fella he was paired with for having his time wasted. I don't understand why they choose such objectionable pr!cks to go on this show, when they must have plenty of applications from decent people with good backstories who just want to meet someone.

I note that on last night’s edition (21 November 2016), that the young couple - Danielle & Tom - were handed a bill for £92.76. This included a discretionary service charge of 12.50% (£10.31) and VAT at 20%. (£13.73). So, presumably, they could have knocked the service charge off the bill had they so wished as surely the staff are being paid by the TV production company? Indeed, Ci Ci is really an actress rather than a waitress in real life.

By providing the nation with entertainment which provides CH4 with advertising revenue, they are surely not really billing the people who take part?

I can't find the link now but I remember reading that they are given something like £25 each towards the bill for this programme.

Wow Will was possibly one of the rudest first daters I've seen on this programme. If you're not going to do something to make the conversation flow, why are you there?

I admire his ambition but Queenie is way out of his league - he should set his sights more realistically - he may find someone who really wants a proper relationship then.

I get the feeling he is getting a sympathy vote from her - it really will end badly for him I fear.

I have always thought it mean of C4 that the daters pay, but I suppose the risk is some might go mad and run up huge bills (unless they capped it at £100, say). I suppose it is more like a real date, though, if there's the question of who pays, do they split it, etc.

Do you know if they pay travel costs, especially for the ones who travel a long way?

I fear it is more likely to end badly for her judging by his rejection reaction.
I've known guys like him who turn abusive.

Wow - that is very generous of the producers! Wonder how much each advertising slot is worth? Seems to me that the public are being taken for a ride.

Didn;t he make it plain to the other guy and the viewers that he wasn't into any scene be it gay or straight. Must admit it seemed pretty pointless him being selected for last night;s show in the first place.

The 18 year old girl from Nando's was really sweet....hope she has a successful relationship with her dinner date.

Is that for all diners or just the ones that get shown on TV?

Chelsea and Alex - Couldn't warm to him at all. Perhaps it was just edited out but I don't remember him ever asking what she did. He seemed to want to talk about himself and getting her to talk about him too ("give me five things why I'm the best bloke in the world" or whatever he said). Was very surprised they went on a second date, thought she'd had enough of him by that point.

Riki and Queenie - if he dropped the self-pitying act then he'd get on much better. I just felt he tried to make his date feel sorry enough for him that she'd go out with him. Kudos to Queenie for meeting up with him again a couple of weeks after the date.

Des and Will - perhaps this will go down as the most unfriendly departure two dates have had?

Oh yes you are right...I forgot about that.

Someone here said the young waitress is an actress!

She was, but with all her talk of "gentlemen" she strikes me as the type who'd never pay her way and always make the guy pay for everything. Hope I'm wrong though!

Agreed, it's unappealing. I hope he's learned from it though, and that maybe something does come from him and Queenie after all.

Well I'm going to defend Will. I don't think his date got his sense of humour. He was channeling his inner mardy Manc. He made a couple of grumpy comments but with a cheeky wink which Des didn't seem to pick up on. I think he's probably right when he says he has a sense of humour which would be picked up on by the right person. Understand he would be offended by Des assuming he was boring and humourless. Think he decided to challenge Des from there on, refusing to perform his anecdotes on demand. The mans a teacher, of course he's a performer when he wants to be! Anyway I liked him

Enjoyed that episode very much, all the other dates went well. The couple of young 'uns from Manchester were a joy to watch, so excited and optimistic about their respective futures. Take note DSers! Chelsea and Alex are a good looking couple but a lot of fun with it. The older couple were nice too, shame it didn't work out.

As for Queenie maybe she gave it some thought and decided to give Riki a chance. If she's looking to settle down he clearly would adore her, don't knock it!

From a Buzzfeed article:

"The waiting staff and barman do not work in the restaurant full time, but are recruited for when the show is being filmed. CiCi Coleman is an actor who trained at New York Film Academy, Laura Tott is in the Royal Navy, and barman Merlin Griffiths is a pub landlord who has previously worked as a global brand ambassador for Bombay Sapphire gin."

It sounds like they hired CiCi and Sam specifically for the series. Merlin is the real deal.

Queenie seems familiar - hasn't she been on this or similiar before where she went on about being "horrible" ?

Nobody watch tonight?
I'm on +1, but this episode will bare a re-watching later on this week for me.

Liked the Irish nurse and her date, my sort of girl, she'd like to sit in watching documentary's
Charlie the hot lesbian and her date, seemed to be sexual sparks there but we didn't see enough of their date to know if it just physical attraction.
Jenny and Ali they certainly hit it off, snogging all over the shop, I could see why Ali could fancy Jenny, but didn't see enough of Ali to work out what she saw in him.

I like the bits of Merlin showboating and testing his various bar skills, stop him doing similar daft pieces to camera like Fred though

I've just watched tonight's. Really enjoyed it mostly. I cannot believe Carl and Marissa didn't go any further than two more dates. I was half expecting wedding bells! She was absolutely stunning I thought, and Carl seemed a top guy as well! Shame

Loved Charlie and Tania as well. Reminded me of the hot lesbian couple from last series who also got on amazingly well (I think they were the couple who banged their heads together outside!) - glad to see they seem to be getting on well
