It's a TV show, I looked at the blurb and nowhere does it say it's representative of any thing.

IIRC there are about 200 couples filmed each series, so a lot of them don't get any air time at all.
People also need to apply and they need to find a viable match.
IIRC we had some really bad/stunt matches in the first series.
We've also had a couple of 'ringers', people with previous from other shows.
