Good riddance!

I don't expect Fightstar to have much success. I bet Charlie will be regretting this soon.

mc fly and busted are sister bands meaning they are the same blood. they do the same thing. jeesus. lol

and for the love of christ they played their own instruments what does that have to do with it! Gary Barlow could play the freaking piano and wheres he now? writing eurovision songs (which is a shame because he is actually talented)

dont worry tho, you still have mcfly Avril and Good charlotte to "rock out" too lmao.

While I'm hardly gutted about the split, I liked Busted.

No, I'm not a teenager. No, I'm not female. No, I don't fancy Charlie. No, I'm not insane. No, I'm not a chav.

But ontop of all these, I'm not a music snob either. Hating Busted for some of the reasons people do is just daft! Busted were never going to win song-writing or music-playing competitions, this much is true. But they did write some catchy, uplifting, humorous in many cases, singalong songs. Who cares if snobs didn't think they had "meaning" - to their target audience (ie. teens), the most important thing for many of them IS that they asked someone to dance at the disco, but they said no.

There'll be more clones but, like Take That, Busted have led the way. It'd help if people opened their minds a little bit!

I've just read an article about the Busted split and this last part sums up exactly what I think:

"If the elitist indie snob-set were to use its energy in a positive fashion, ranting about a fantastic band whom they saw playing last night or the new record they just bought that few have heard, maybe the industry would slowly sway in their favour, but the negativity prevails. It seems to be a lot easier to knock music than to get excited about it. To complain about the industry is to further the supposed destruction of our passion, music.

It's time to wake up, to direct our energy into the bands that we feel can make a difference in a way that we like, rather than knocking something that is not only successful in a commercial sense, but on a level that has made millions of people across the world happy.

Busted, rest in peace".

I don't know why some people get so worked up about them and others like Mcfly. There are plenty of good bands out there releasing really good music so why not just go and listen to them instead?

Also, this forum is quite a good example of what the author of that article was saying. A post slagging of a pop artist gets hundreds of views (and lots of replies) whereas a post about a new artist hardly gets looked at or commented on. Go figure.....

I would rather post on here about a good band, but when there is so much crap in the charts with the like of mcfly, geri halliwell and a few others which I love if they crawled under a stone. Hell I'm even looking forward to going to see a good band live on Saturday at the Metro Radio Arena called Velvet Revolver (Slash's new band). At least then don't do what Busted did when they played live and that was to backing tapes and it has been proved.

if i recall correctly, i've just read a thread about tenacious d, with lots of people saying how great they are, and how much they've enjoyed concerts, and asking about further albums, etc....! surely that's bigging up an artist that people like!

Maybe people get worked up because the likes of Busted and McFly get famous not because they are talented but because they have the right 'look'? They are the next evolution of boy bands, they 'play' instruments as well as sing.

People do listen to what they consider good music but does that mean that they shouldn't say when they think something is rubbish?

One of my favourite bands is The Delgados, I presume you choose your moniker as you are a fan of them?

Do you think it is fair that bands like Busted and McFly get so much exposure when they have limited talent compared to a band like The Delgados? I realise it will never change as long as there are teenage girls with raging hormones.

It's like Christmas, new year, easter, Hanukkah, and my birthday all came at once. Till I found out that the tall one (Charlie, I think) is in another band.

The very first time I ever heard a Busted tune, I thought to myself "What a heap of sh*te" Then I heard McFly and thought that these were even worse than Busted.

The news that Busted have split has pleased me. However, as much as I cannot stand the music from these two bands, I do think that they may serve a purpose. They could be the link from pop music to rock/indie/goth music. When I was 9 or 10 years old and first getting into music, I was only aware of the top 40. It took me a while for me to broaden my horizons and understand that many different types of music was available. In fact, it wasn't until I left school at 16 and went to college that I 'found' many of the bands that I still love today (I'm in my 30s)

Perhaps Busted (RIP - Rest in pieces) and Mcfly may make the next generation look further into other guitar led bands. I know that people who like crap such as Westlife, Boyzone, Blue etc... would never make anyone look into guitar bands as looks rather than talent is the attribute needed here.

Anyway, Busted have split - I'm grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

i agree. busted were quite good. but hey... i'm a teenager so i suppose my views don't count for that much, especially where busted are concerned...

You can always pick out an example like that but I was talking about the forum as a whole.

Yes but if we support and discuss the good music rather than wasting energy on the poor stuff, then bands like Busted become irrelevant. If we did this then may be more of the good bands would get the mainstream success that they deserve. Busted and bands like them will always be successful because of their target audience so imo, its better to accept that fact, ignore them and listen to the music that you enjoy instead.

ps. For the record, I think Busted (and Mcfly) have released some good pop songs and are about 10 times less objectionable than all those boy bands we had to put up with in the nineties .

I agree with you.

Doesn't mean I can't be happy when a boy band implode though.

Have you ever noticed that all the fans of these types of 'bands' vigerously deny it a few years later?

To be fair, some of the Busted album tracks aren't that bad. I heard a track called "Why" and it was very good.

It had proper meaning and it wasn't stupid.
