Three pull out of EE spectrum sharing deal
Talks between EE and Three to share 4G spectrum have come to nothing, largely because Three did not see any benefit from the deal, TechWeekEurope understands.
The two had been discussing how they could work together to run services over the 800MHz they acquired in the recent 4G auction. However, a source with knowledge of the talks told TechWeek they failed to deliver anything material as Three felt EE would have more to gain through a deal, given it had a larger customer base and therefore needed greater capacity in the 800MHz band http://www.techweekeurope.co.uk/news...sharing-119252 |

This could have been good for both, but Three do have a point, EE would gain much more since they have many more customers. I wonder what Three & EE will do now, im sure Three do not have enough 800MHz spectrum, maybe buy some from O2?

Does anybody know can the Huawai kt that EE have installed for 4G 1800 can be shared wih 3 if they want to ?
As I have seen lots of upgraded EE kit and the new Vodafone & O2 4G cabinets and masts but nothing for 3 and no sign of planning applications. As a side note on the upgraded EE 4G masts why is there 2small cabinets now to the larger one ? I presume all the 2&3G remains in the bigger cabinets and one of smaller for 4G |

Uno: It could and that is the 'speedy' roll out option that Three have. However as EE's 4G network is outside the MBNL it wouldn't be a cheap option in the long run (and no doubt EE would lock them into that). However it looks like Three are still going along with the Samsung kit option.
This whole thing is a non story as it was ruled out pretty much a few weeks after the auction. It was EE who chose to walk away from sharing 800. |
