If you can't remember, you probably didn't watch that series. She was very memorable.

She had an onscreen relationship with another candidate, she flirted with Lord Sugar in the boardroom and made him look like an idiot, she made extremely malicious comments about her opponents, and she was utterly brilliant on the tasks.

Ah yes, I think I remember now. Thanks.

Well, she's a prime example of someone who was simultaneously entertaining, and also very credible and focussed.

I would imagine that the teams would do that anyway. It's generally the done thing if you are making a film.

Anyway, the teams didn't have to. Harry M's team were criticised by Nick for not making one. Zara's team did, but that was expected because Zara made films generally, so you'd expect her to want to make a storyboard.
It is the done thing, but my point is we've never seen it done before on the adult series, where we just see them chatting about it. And the fact that Harry's team not doing it became a thing suggests that it must have been in the task brief - but he just chose to ignore it.

Well, they have to scrap a vast amount of footage from each series, so maybe there has just never been any reason to keep the storyboarding in in any other series. In that series, there were two reasons to show it:

a) To show that Zara's team had completely planned everything out before they flipped their idea
b) To show how much more organised Zara's team were than Harry M's team.

I can't see why the adults wouldn't do a storyboard - it's something that is generally done when making a film, it's not like that's a big secret that only those in the industry know about. If I was on the programme, it would be obvious to me to make a storyboard. It's not as if it's something that depends on what the producers set up for you either - all it requires is a pen and a big piece of paper, it's not especially awkward, is it?

I agree with you in principle - it's certainly what you and I would do in that situation - and I fully agree with your point about cut footage. It just strikes me as odd that, in all the years we have had the advertising task, we have never seen anyone draw up or even discuss a storyboard. We've also never seen one stuck to a wall. What we always see is the candidates sitting round a table bouncing ideas around. At most we see them jotting notes on a flipchart. It's one of those omissions which I've always looked out for - I've worked (as a client) on a couple of ad campaigns before, and I expect every TV ad to have a basic storyboard.

Maybe all reference or sighting of storyboards has been cut out over the years, but it seems a bit unlikely, don't you think? Surely we'd have spotted one in the background by now?

That is odd, now that you bring it up. Maybe you're right in that for some reason that series of Young Apprentice had it in the brief... but even so, I find it incredibly strange that in all of those tasks, only Zara, a professional filmmaker, wanted to make a storyboard. I would have thought that it was common knowledge that that is what is done when making a film.

Did they have one in Series 3 of Young Apprentice with the hair products?

I genuinely think the tasks are extremely difficult for people who are not specialists in that particular area who only have 2 days to complete it. I think they have done well and defy anyone else, including LAS, NH and CB to do significantly better. It is so much easier to criticise from the chairman's seat that to actually do the task. Don't forget we only get to see around 20 minutes of 2 days action so we never know everything which goes on.

Yes, I'd agree on that.
