Surely it's ridiculously far, far too soon?! She's only been around five years; Beyonce doesn't even have one yet. I would have even said it was far too soon for Rihanna, and she's been around longer and released triple the amount of albums.
And Kaley Cuoco deserving of a star, really... That's like giving Daniela Denby-Ashe a Damehood 'cause she was in My Family. |

I like both Rihanna and Lady Gaga but I already knew some of their fans would take this way too seriously.

Katy Perry getting a Hollywood Walk of Fame star before Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc is the end of Hollywood.
The last is my favourite in the hysteria stakes. I would agree though that all three mentioned are more deserving. But still, congrats to Katy.

That's cool for Katy Perry but honestly, just about anybody can buy themselves a star on the walk of fame these days, if you have enough money and have a couple of people to sponsor your request for one. Everyone and their dog has them now and they can't really mean that much anymore because of that. When I visited Hollywood Boulevard last year and walked up and down looking at the stars there so many names I didn't recognised but learnt, from other people we met, that a lot of them were pretty much C list tv presenters and the like and they'd paid for these stars themselves. So it's hardly that prestigious anymore, like when it was only really big names that had stars.
What IS prestigious, and far exclusive is to have your hands and/or footprints in cement at Graumann's Chinese Theatre courtyard. You have to be specially invited for that and they don't just pick anyone, they've very choosy. In there you have the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly. Most recent name I saw in there was, I think, Hugh Jackman. It was fascinating looking around there and seeing what tiny little hands some stars, like Judy Garland had. Michael Jackson has 3 different sets of handprints there, tiny hand prints, from when he was little Michael in the 70's, then later in the 80's and then more recent (can't remember what the most recent date was he did it). There's a print of his sequined glove too. Roy Rogers' had Trigger's hoofprint in cement and George Burns had a cigar print, lol Space within Graumann's courtyard is limited so they don't choose just anyone and don't choose that often. Anyway, just saying that whilst the stars on the walk of fame don't have the same prestigious as handprints at Graumann's they're still fun to look at/and look for. But damn you can walk miles looking for specific stars if you don't have the map with you, telling you where they all are, lol. I'm sure Beyonce, Gaga et al could put forward their own requests to have a star but maybe they don't want one. Unless they want to be amongst the ones officially inivted/selected. Btw, my favourite Star on the WOF is Kermit The Frog's!

Love Katy perry but do not agree with this
The likes of Claire danes have had careers span decades. Claire danes has been a well known actress for the last twenty years and has really contributed a lot to television. Has Madonna or Pink got a star? Just think it's a bit of a kick in the face to several other artists out there who have been going longer and haven't actually got a star. |

I believe most people have to be nominated by their management to be considered, so it may be that Katy's team did that whilst Pink's haven't. |

I also read somewhere that Madonna was nominated but didn't act upon it because she didn't particularly want a star and so her nomination expired.
I do agree it's probably a bit premature. I'm not one of those Katy Perry fans that refer to her as 'The Female MJ' and think she's some kind of certified legend already. However, she was obviously nominated and selected out of hundreds of other nominees so I'm happy for her. |
